FAQ:

Is the Google app free?

Yes — free on Google Play, with optional linked services (e.g. subscriptions elsewhere in Google's ecosystem, not required to search).

Does AI Mode replace normal search?

No. AI Mode and AI Overviews sit on top of regular results — you still get links to the web and can drop back to classic search anytime. Google itself notes AI answers should be double-checked against sources.

What's new in late 2026?

The official Play listing shows Google updated 31 October 2026, with Nano Banana image generation in AI Mode/Lens (select languages/locations), AI Mode accessible from the app home screen, and Circle to Search on supported premium Android devices. Third-party mirrors list build 17.70.11 (Oct 2026) — treat that as mirror metadata, not the canonical Play version string.

Is my data safe?

Searches are encrypted in transit. Tap your profile → delete recent search history. The Play data-safety panel says Google may collect location, personal info, and other data types, no data is shared with third parties per Google's declaration, and data-deletion requests are supported.

    The Google Assistant on my Pixel 6a hasn't been functioning due to a continuous problem with updating. Despite having the latest Android version and up-to-date apps, the Assistant remains stuck in the "download in progress" stage whenever I attempt to update it. I've attempted various troubleshooting methods like restarting the device, clearing cache and data, but each time the download progress halts midway, despite some initial seeming progress. Even after multiple attempts, the same issue occurs consistently. Without resetting the device, the Assistant doesn’t proceed past the download page; instead, it just displays a rapidly rolling progress bar indefinitely.

    I have an excellent search application that I use often, but there is one issue I encounter. The menu for downloading songs does not open when I tap it. For instance, when I select a song like "Force-a-Nature" from Funkipedia Fnf vs Mann co and press the three dots on the right, the menu where the download button should be doesn't appear, even though I am tapping it correctly. It seems like there might be an error with Google itself since my touchscreen is functioning perfectly.
