GETTING STARTED:
Voice Notify functions via Android's Notification Listener service, which needs to be activated in the Notification Access settings.
A shortcut to access this screen is available at the top of the primary Voice Notify interface.
Certain brands, such as Xiaomi and Samsung, may have additional permissions that prevent apps like Voice Notify from running automatically or in the background by default.
If Voice Notify is launched on affected devices and the service isn't active, a prompt will provide instructions and may redirect you to the relevant settings page.
PERMISSIONS:
• Post Notifications - Essential to publish the test notification. This is generally the only permission displayed to users by Android.
• Query All Packages - Necessary for retrieving a comprehensive list of installed apps for the App List and supporting per-app settings.
• Bluetooth - Needed to identify if a Bluetooth headset is connected.
• Vibrate - Required for testing features while the device is set to vibrate.
• Modify Audio Settings - Necessary for better wired headset detection.
• Read Phone State - Needed to halt TTS when a phone call is initiated [Android 11 and earlier]
ABOUT AUDIO STREAM OPTION:
The behavior of audio streams may differ between devices or Android versions, so it’s recommended to conduct personal testing to find the best stream for your needs. The Media stream (default) should suffice for most users.

An Invaluable Accessibility Tool That Redefines Notification Management
As someone who frequently multitasks and often cannot look at my phone, Voice Notify has fundamentally transformed how I interact with my device. This app delivers an exceptional level of customization and practicality, allowing me to stay informed through spoken notifications without interrupting my workflow. The ability to tailor announcements per app, control speaking duration, and even shake to silence provides a sense of command I didn’t know I was missing.
The per-app customization is particularly impressive, letting me hear only what’s important—whether it’s a message from a loved one or a calendar reminder—while filtering out less urgent alerts. Features like Quiet Time and headset-based activation show thoughtful design aimed at real-world usability. While the initial setup requires granting notification access—common for apps of this kind—the process is well-guided within the app.
Light and dark theme support, along with extensive backup options, round out an already polished experience. For anyone seeking greater accessibility, hands-free convenience, or simply a smarter way to manage notifications, Voice Notify is nothing short of revolutionary.
