Detailed Overview

•  Activate screen with gestures

Avoid excessive wear on your power button by using gestures to turn on the display. You can awaken the screen through the proximity sensor or by raising the device. Revealing the proximity sensor will cause the screen to light up automatically when you take the phone out of your pocket. Waving over this sensor is also effective when your hands are not clean! Additionally, you can set a tilt angle that activates the display when the phone is lifted (tilt to wake).

•  Automatically keep screen on

Select from multiple approaches that detect device usage and maintain the display activation. The motion detection method notices slight movements just from holding the device. Waving over the proximity sensor can also help keep the screen awake, optionally extending the timeout. The tilt angle feature allows the display to remain active even when it is propped up. You may also select to keep the screen illuminated while using specified apps, charging, or on a call (the display still turns off when you bring the phone to your ear).

• Quickly time out the screen to conserve battery

You can set the screen timeout duration for when none of the active functions are currently keeping it lit. If the display isn’t being actively maintained, it should quickly time out to save energy. The screen can turn off even sooner when the proximity sensor is covered (like when placed in a pocket) or when pointing straight down. Additionally, a separate timeout can be set specifically for the lock screen. KinScreen will refrain from turning off the display when other applications are preventing it from doing so, unless you have opted to deactivate the screen actively.

KinScreen aims to be highly efficient and kind to your battery life. It uses minimal CPU and memory resources, and the usage of sensors is finely optimized. Some functionalities consume more power than others. Activating the display via tilt angle will use a notable amount of battery because it needs to keep the device awake to function correctly.
