EWPE Smart - Smart appliance control

I experienced some frustration with my air conditioners. They all display a disconnected status when I'm off my local network, despite having a strong connection. For one day, everything worked perfectly. After that, they started disconnecting again. I can only give two stars for local use.

Finally got the remote app to work away from home WiFi. Had to open Port Forwarding on my router. The manual mentioned that the Wi-Fi router blocks server communication. It suggested opening ports 6000, 6002, and 16384. Still can't link to Google Assistant though.

The air conditioner can't be controlled with a remote and the app at the same time. As soon as I use the remote, it disconnects from the app. Reconnecting is a hassle. The app shows a list of devices, but the names are confusing, like "1eS2pt...". I play a guessing game trying to figure out which one is mine. The device only connects when it's powered off. This app is frustrating.

The old version worked perfectly. The new one created a mess. I lost connection with all seven units. Trying to add them stops at 99%. Regularly, the ACs disconnect from the app. We have seven ACs spread over two floors and four SSIDs. It’s impossible to tell which unit corresponds to which MAC address. Connecting becomes frustrating when you can’t tell which floor or SSID is linked to each unit. We finally gave up on the app and went back to using remote controls.

It started off rough. I couldn't finish the setup and threw in the towel. A few months later, I decided to give it another shot. I finally completed the setup and controlled the air conditioning for about a week. Then, everything went downhill. Now, all I see is a network error no matter how hard I try. The user interface feels clunky. Changing settings isn't straightforward. Scrolling leads to accidental changes, which is frustrating. If I could return the air conditioner, I would. The app feels lacking in smart features.

The app works well, but it still has some issues. Users get kicked out when connecting another device, which is really frustrating. Notifications are nonexistent, so you miss important updates. Scenes cannot be sorted, although rooms can be organized. Upon first use, I could only add a device by using a VPN on the Wi-Fi router, hinting at some unusual communication ports being used.

The app is frustrating. It doesn’t provide clear steps. The connection never works, even with the right network details and phone settings at 2.4 GHz. It throws random questions without offering answers. Instead of guiding to turn the device on or off, it asks if the device is on, without giving any direction on what to do next. The checklist feels confusing. It seems designed to lead to a "yes" answer but ends up mixing things up. Overall, the experience just doesn’t make sense.

I started using this app with my Trane AC and it worked well. On August 4, 2020, I was pleased with it for two months. Then, on April 18, 2022, things changed. The app stopped working altogether. It frustrated me so much. I felt let down by how bad it became. But then, on October 30, 2022, it surprised me. It started working again.

This app really struggles. It takes forever to open. Once it finally does, it shows the devices as disconnected for over 30 seconds. The interface feels clunky. Changing the AC angle requires clicking on tiny text. The timer features a major flaw. Setting it to repeat every day works for just one day before it disables itself. Plus, there’s no home screen widget. Frustrating experience all around.
