You ask us the most often
Are eObčanka and eDoklady the same?
No, they are two different services. eDoklady is a mobile application that serves to identify oneself during a physical check. eObčanka is part of the ID card and is used to log in to online services.
What documents will be in the application?
From January 20, 2024, the ID card has been available in eDoklady. We plan to add more documents in the future.
Where can I use eDoklady?
From January 20, 2024, it was possible to use eDoklady in personal meetings with central administrative authorities, which are mainly ministries. From July 1, 2024, municipal authorities with extended powers, regional authorities, the Police of the Czech Republic, Customs Administration, cadastral offices, trade licensing offices, Financial Administration, CSSA, Labor Offices and other state authorities have also joined. The acceptance of eDoklady will gradually be extended to other locations according to this schedule.
Can I use eDoklady abroad?

Is my physical ID card expiring? Do I have to extend it if I have eDoklady?
Yes. The ID card in eDoklady is actually an electronic copy of your physical document. If your ID card expires, the document will automatically disappear from eDoklady. 90 days before the expiration date of your physical ID card, the application will start displaying a notification in how many days it will expire.
Can I continue to identify myself with a plastic ID card?
Yes, your current ID card is still valid and you can use it to prove your identity as before.
Can eDoklady be used offline?
Yes, when proving your identity to the verifier with the mobile application, only Bluetooth technology is used to connect your and the verifier's mobile phones. Internet access is not required at that time.
An internet connection is required for registration, updating data, and proving your identity to the verifier at the counter.
Are there situations when I will still have to present a physical ID card?
If something is physically done to the ID card (e.g. cutting a corner during marriage or changing permanent residence), you cannot prove your identity with an eDoklady, you must present a physical ID card. In the ID card agenda, it will no longer be possible to prove your identity with an eDoklady when applying for a first ID card, when activating the chip in the ID card, and when applying for an ID card after canceling permanent residence.
Can foreigners living in the Czech Republic also use eDoklady?
The application is available only to citizens of the Czech Republic with a valid Czech identity card.
