Method1 Using Mobile
Launch the YouTube app or visit https://m.youtube.com/ in a mobile browser. This will take you to your YouTube homepage if you are logged in. If you aren't signed in, tap the profile icon in the top-right corner, select Sign In, and enter your email and password (or choose an account if prompted).
Tap on your profile icon located in the top-right corner of the screen. Doing so will open a menu.
Select "Settings" from the drop-down menu. This will open the Settings page.
Select "General," which is located at the top of the page, just below "Purchases and memberships." On the mobile site, this option will appear as "Account."
Disable the "Restricted Mode" toggle on Android 7. The switch will change from blue to grey, indicating that Restricted Mode is no longer active.
Restart YouTube by closing the app or tab and reopening it. You should now have access to content that was previously restricted. If you're experiencing issues on iOS, check the parental controls under Screen Time. For Android users, parental controls can be disabled through the Play Store and Family Link.
Using Desktop
Visit https://www.youtube.com/ in your browser. This will take you to your YouTube homepage if you are logged into your account. If you are not signed in, click on "SIGN IN" in the top-right corner of the page and enter your email address and password.
Click on your profile icon located in the top-right corner of the YouTube page. This will open a drop-down menu.
Click on "Restricted Mode: On," which can be found below your Language settings.
Disable the "Activate Restricted Mode" toggle on Android 7. If the toggle switch is greyed out and unclickable, it means that Restricted Mode has been locked by the network administrator or a parent using the Family Link app.
This is common when using a school, library, or company computer.
To check your content restrictions, visit https://www.youtube.com/check_content_restrictions. Look for Restricted Mode under "Restrictions on your organization network" or "Restrictions on your personal account."
If you see that it is enabled under "Restrictions on your organization network," you will need to contact your network administrator or the Family Link account holder to disable Restricted Mode.
