How to Download Facebook Live Videos?
Facebook Live is utilized by individuals, businesses, churches, and performers to broadcast their services, stream gaming content, or present live performances. However, if you wish to share these videos on other platforms, edit them, clip specific sections for later viewing, or play them outside of Facebook, you cannot directly download the livestreams from the platform. Instead, you need to use alternative software to save Facebook Live videos to your computer or phone.Fortunately, you can use Kapwing to download and edit your favorite Facebook Live content in four simple steps.

Through the use of Kapwing
Step 1: Copy the video's link
Locate the live video you want to download by navigating to Facebook’s Video tab, scrolling through your timeline, checking a Messenger conversation, or reviewing your Favorites folder. Note that Facebook’s Video tab includes a dedicated section for Live videos.
Once you have found the archived live stream, copy the link from the three-dot menu in the top right hand corner, or manually copy and past the URL from the search bar at the top of your screen.
Step 2: Upload it to the Kapwing Studio
Once you’ve copied the Facebook Live link, go to Kapwing.com and click Create New. This will direct you to the Kapwing Studio, a centralized space for all of Kapwing’s video editing tools. Select the URL field on the right-hand side and paste the link to your video. The footage will start uploading to the Studio immediately.
Once your video is uploaded to the Studio, you can cut the parts you wish to save. Kapwing can support lengthy content, but it cannot export videos longer that exceed two hours running time, so you may wish to trim your content into smaller segments.
Step 3: Edit Your Facebook Live Clip
After uploading your live stream clip, the Kapwing Studio empowers you to edit the content. Whether you're making edits for personal enjoyment or crafting original content to honor your favorite Facebook streamer, like creating a compilation or highlight reel, the tools are at your disposal.
Kapwing offers an Auto Subtitle Generator, enabling users to effortlessly add captions. This feature eliminates the need for creators to painstakingly transcribe the audio from the Facebook video footage, saving significant time and effort.
In this instance, the Video Stabilizer Tool has been applied in order to minimize any shaking the camera may have picked up during the live stream. The background has also been blurred to emphasize focus on the subject.
Step 4: Export & Download
Once you’re satisfied with all edits to your video and the content is trimmed to under two hours, you can download the footage to your device.
To do this, click the blue Export Project button in the top-right corner and select MP4 from the dropdown menu.
Users can adjust their preferred Compression Level based on their desired resolution size. Content with a higher resolution will be better quality, but may take longer to export and occupy more space in your files.
How Can I Save My Facebook Live Videos
No need to panic just yet! Facebook will send a notification before your live video is deleted, giving you time to save it. Once you receive this notification, you’ll have 90 days to download your Live video by following these steps:
Go to your profile or page
Tap the Videos or Live tab
Open the video you want to download
Tap the three-dot menu and select “Download video”
You can also find your past Live videos by accessing your Activity History from the three-dot menu on your profile.
Bulk Download Option
If you have multiple live videos scheduled for deletion, Facebook offers a bulk download option. When you receive the deletion notification, you can choose “Download Live Videos”, which will generate a compressed file containing all the videos set to be removed.
Postponing Live Videos Deletion
Here’s some great news: Facebook also allows you to extend the 30-day deletion deadline by up to 6 months. This gives you extra time to arrange for cloud storage or save the videos to your device. After this extended period, the videos will be permanently deleted.
To delay deletion:
Open the notification sent by Facebook.
Tap Learn more.
Select Postpone deletion.
Convert Live Videos into Reels
Another great way to preserve your live videos content and be aligned with current trends (and reach even more people!) is to convert your live into short videos. Facebook provides an option to trim parts of your Live video and convert them into Reels. You can do this immediately after ending a Live session or by accessing the video later on your profile or page.
Keep in mind that Reels have a shorter duration and must be in a 16:9 aspect ratio.
