How to Create and Manage TikTok Playlists?

Currently, the privilege of creating playlists on TikTok remains exclusive to a select group of individuals. As things stand, only a portion of creators have been granted the ability to curate playlists on their profiles. This functionality is predominantly available to a limited number of business and creator accounts. Despite TikTok's announced plans to expand the availability of the playlists feature to a broader user base in the future, many content creators with thousands of followers are still waiting for access.

There are anecdotal reports from some users who claim that they gained the playlist feature after reaching specific follower milestones, like 5,000 or 100,000 followers. However, these reports seem inconsistent, as there are TikTokers with close to a million followers who are still unable to create playlists. This disparity highlights the unpredictable nature of how TikTok distributes this feature, leaving many users puzzled about the exact criteria for eligibility.

If you find yourself among those who can't create playlists on TikTok at the moment, don't be disheartened. It's important to remain patient. Given TikTok's stated intentions, it's likely that the playlist feature will gradually be rolled out to more and more users as the platform continues to evolve and refine its offerings over time.

Create a Playlist

1.Locate and tap on the "Profile" tab. You can find it positioned at the bottom - right corner of your screen. Once you tap it, you will be redirected to the Videos section of your profile page. Here, you can view all the videos you have uploaded, as well as any playlists that you have curated and saved.

2.Click on "Sort videos into playlists."

In case you haven't made any playlists previously (and assuming your account has access to the playlist feature), you'll notice this option displayed above your videos.[2]

For users who have already created playlists, whether through their profile or directly from a video, the existing playlists will be shown in this area. To start a new playlist, simply tap the "+" icon located beside your current playlists.

3.Enter a title for your playlist and then click on "Next." Choose a name that accurately reflects the content of the videos you plan to include, so that viewers can easily understand the theme or category of the playlist at a glance. This descriptive naming will not only help your audience quickly identify the type of videos in the playlist but also make it more appealing and search - friendly on the platform.

4.Choose the videos you want to add and then tap "Next".

On this interface, you have to tap each individual video that you wish to incorporate into the playlist. When you tap a video, a pink and white checkmark will appear in the top - right corner, indicating that it has been selected.

It's important to note that only publicly accessible videos are eligible for inclusion in a playlist. Private or restricted - access videos cannot be added.

Also, keep in mind that a single video can only belong to one playlist simultaneously. Once a video is added to a playlist, it cannot be added to another one until it is removed from the current playlist.

5.Press the "Create playlist" button.

Once the playlist has been successfully created, it will be displayed on the Videos tab of your profile, where you and your followers can easily access and view it.

Add Videos to a Playlist

1.This action navigates you to the Videos tab on your profile page. 

If you have previously created playlists, they will be prominently displayed at the top of this tab. However, if you haven't made any playlists yet, there's no need to be concerned. You have the option to create a new one right away. All you need to do is start adding your videos to a brand - new playlist, and in no time, you'll have your own curated collection on display.

2.Select the video that you wish to include in a playlist by tapping on it. Doing so will open the video.

Alternatively, you have the option to add a video to a playlist while you're in the process of posting it on TikTok. On the Post screen, simply tap "Add to playlist" and then choose any of the playlists you've previously created.

In the case where you aim to add several videos to an existing playlist, rather than tapping on individual videos, tap on the name of the playlist you want to add to. After that, tap "Add videos," and you'll be able to select the specific videos you'd like to incorporate into that playlist.

3.Tap the three - dot icon located on the right side of the video.

When you do this, a menu will unfold. As an alternative method, you can tap and hold the icon, which will also prompt the menu to appear.

4.Tap Add to playlist.Now you'll see all of the playlists you've created, as well as the ability to create a new one.

5.Choose a playlist.

Simply tap on the playlist to which you wish to add the video, and the process is complete.

Should you desire to make a new playlist, click on "Create a playlist now." Then, come up with an imaginative name for your new playlist and tap "Create playlist."

It's important to note that if the video is already part of a playlist, you won't be able to add it to a different one, as each video can only be included in a single playlist at a time.
