CALIBRATION

Check your devices that isn't being affected by a magnetic objects or not. Maintain magnetic field strength between 30~60μT.

Then make an accurate eight-figure multiple times as in the image below. If calibration does not work well, rotate the device several times to left, right, top, and bottom. If the calibration still fails, there may be a mechanical problem with the device.

    The compass is working well for me. I plan to go hiking in New Hampshire's White Mountains soon and then compare it with my military issue compass. It would be awesome if the compass had topo map transparency. From August 18th to 22nd, 2020, I hiked 21 miles in two days. I used this compass along with my USA government-issued one to check the topo maps, and everything was spot on. There was a bad storm approaching, but without internet connection, I remembered a natural cave nearby. I set the quadrants using the compass and followed them for 1.3 miles. I reached the cave just in time. Overall, I would give it a 5-star rating.

    Hey there! Great news - if your phone has a magnetometer, it can function just like an iPhone compass! It's super quick to respond and simple to operate. Plus, there are plenty of cool features to explore as well! By the way, I'm currently using an S21. Take a peek at Wikipedia to look up your device and check for the magnetometer sensor.

    This compass app is great. I haven't come across a better one. It can be a bit shaky at times, but when you're out in the woods or up in the mountains where the signal isn't very strong, it works perfectly. The app doesn't jitter at all under those conditions. I'm not sure if you need a signal to use the compass. Your phone's GPS should be good enough to tell you where you are on the compass because it has that feature.

    This tool is great for everyone, even if you don't use GPS. Sometimes you just need to make a few imaginary 8 shapes in the air to recalibrate it. It's perfect for busy places like Mumbai where finding your way quickly can save you from getting lost and wasting time.
