I just started my own delivery company were I drive around delivering packages. I may have 4 one day and 15 the next. The one problem I was having was trying to figure out how to put them in order. Especially when they could be in different counties. Well I tried Road Warrior. This app is just the greatest assistance tool you can have. All you do is put all your stops in and then hit optimize and it puts them in the order your looking for to get the best time consuming route. Without this app is would take someone hours to figure the best route out especially someone like me who does not always go to the same people. I really want to see what the spread sheet looks like you can download showing your stops and mileage. Will follow up later in regards to that issue. This is truly a five star app !!!!

I love this app, it helps me complete my routes faster. The only issue I have come to find is for when I need to sign into my premium account onto a different device, when I first started my monthly again, I had my main phone break, and I had to use my back up phone for work, and I signed in, and ended up having to pay AGAIN for my premium status on the same account email everything. It was rather irritating to say the least because at the time I had to have my close friend send me money three times through Venmo so I could pay it again, due to a couple other stupid issues with my husbands and I’s Venmo and apple accounts(it ended up taking money for other things before the payment needed for road warrior) and it became a very big annoyance for me that day. Besides that, everything is good. Perfect app for people working in the delivery business for sure. But needs update for payments for which accounts and devices, or a possibility to be able to have multiple devices on the same account 🤷🏼‍♀️👏🏼

I have to say, that this app paid for itself before my first coffee break on my first day of using this app… And I am not exaggerating. What is $10 per month??? when you consider the mileage it saves you, and the increase in productivity and Face time with customers and/or prospects… I have just finished my first week of using this app and I can honestly say that I saw at least 10 more customers this week in the same amount of time because this app helped me squeeze every hour of productivity out of my week. I should’ve had this app a year ago… Just don’t tell my boss!!!! I noticed comments about the price going up to $10, and I understand as a consumer myself frustration of increased prices of goods and services… But in my own humble opinion I must say that roadwarrior is an incredible value at $10 per month… Perhaps they should illustrate the value of their app, using some mileage saved or customers seen figures...etc. they could surely put together a compelling value position. I thank you, my car and engine and transmission thank you, my wallet thanks you and my boss will be thanking you soon after seeing the increase productivity!

My husband and I own a landscaping and lawn care business. For the longest time one of our biggest challenges was navigation. First we would sit down every night and try to figure out which properties to go to by area. (That didn't work out too well because some properties would actually be closer in and area outside of the area we were trying to focus on.) we figured if they were all in the same town they it would be best to Group them together. Then since that wasn't working we would spend hours on google looking up each property trying to figure out the best route to maximize our time. We were wasting so much time doing this, it added so much unnecessary stress! I finally started looking into apps to help with this ( don't know why we didn't do that in the first place lol) but I actually downloaded a few different navigation apps Road Warrior being one of them and I tried them all out and I found that Road Warrior was the easiest and most user friendly. It was straight forward and took me just a few minutes to get the hang of! As opposed to the other apps that were confusing and just frustrated me more. All in all we wouldn't be able to run our business as smoothly as we are without Road Warrior. We are so grateful! Thank you!

This app is great, I would imagine it does exactly what it's intended to do very well. As far as applying it to a courier service like Ontrack, FedEx, UPS, etc., it could be improved. I would only make a few changes, first I would make it so that you can hit one button an enter address by voice. As it is now, I have to hit the search button, then I have to hit the microphone button, this might sound trivial but when you have over 200 packages every morning it adds up. The other thing that I would do is add a zoning feature, which would order the route according to the zone. But like I said, this is very specific and for what it is the app is awesome and reliable and consistent. I literally could not do my job without it, or rather would not want to.

How to use

Tutorial

1.Download and Fill Out Excel Template
Find the upload template here, then fill out as instructed. Do not modify the first row of the sheet. For a complete list of template guidelines, see the section below.

2. Upload the spreadsheet through the RoadWarrior Web App
Access the RoadWarrior Web App here. If you run into issues, check out our troubleshooting guide below, or reach our team at support@roadwarrior.app for assistance.

3. Check your mobile device for the uploaded Route
If you have app notifications enabled, you will get a notification indicating successful upload. You may need to manually sync your mobile app from the bottom of the side menu.

Required Columns:

In general, the required columns have a green header; the rest are supplementary. Required columns, along with any notes, are listed below:

Name - identifier for the address. Most commonly, this will be the resident/point of contact at your Stop

Building/House Number - numerical part of street address

Street Name - street part of street address

City*

State/Region*

Postal* - zip code or post code

Country - see list of country codes on the second sheet of the Excel template

Optional Columns:

Color - the color of the Stop or Favorite pin when uploaded. When left blank, the addresses will upload to your account’s default colors. See list of colors on the second sheet of the Excel template.

Phone - phone number for your contact.

Note - any pertinent information you would like to add to your Route. If you use hashtag filtering, this is the place to include those hashtags.

Latitude & Longitude - you can use coordinate values, instead of addresses, to define your Stops. Any values here will override the address.

When filling out this column, opt for decimal degrees (ex. 40.0150, -105.2705) rather than degrees, minutes, and seconds (ex. 40 0 54 N, 105 16 14 W)

Stopover/Visit Time - the number of time in minutes you expect to spend at each Stop. This will be calculated into your total Route travel time.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Here are a few troubleshooting tips for the most common issues if you get stuck:

 1. Header Error - make sure your header row is unmodified from the original template ■ Even if you leave a column blank, you should not delete the full column

2. File Type Incompatible - RoadWarrior is only compatible with .xlsx documents at this time ■ Convert any .xls or .csv files to .xlsx, with the proper header rows, before uploading

3. *Geocoding Error - take a look at the row # if a geocoding error appears, and locate the site on your spreadsheet ■ Make sure the address is typed correctly by comparing the address to Google Maps ■ These errors can now be corrected directly in the Web App without changing your spreadsheet--keep reading below!

Geocoding Error Correction

Geocoding Errors can be corrected directly in the Web App as long as Upload Error Handling is turned On. To enable this feature:

1.Navigate to the Uploads tab

2.Enter Upload Settings by clicking the Settings Icon

3.Select Fix Issue on Error

If a Geocoding Error occurs, you'll be able to correct the pin by:

1.Clicking the desired location on the map

2.Searching for the address directly

3.Skipping the location entirely

The Best Trucking GPS Apps for Commercial Vehicles (2025 Guide)

By Margaret Yager December 7, 2024

By 2025, the best commercial truck GPS Apps will include a wide range of additional capabilities.

When planning a route with multiple points of interest, the order of stops can play a key role in efficiency. A reliable trucking GPS app will take your stops and rearrange the order of stops to create a truck route that requires less drive time, less fuel cost and less operating costs. Our top picks are TruckMap, PTV Navigator and RoadWarrior Flex after factoring the different features and pricing.

What Types of Commercial Vehicles Should Use Truck GPS Apps?

Commercial vehicles range across a variety of sizes and shapes – from trailers, semi trailers, and buses, through buses, and even taxis. Although there may be minor differences between state to country, all automobiles registered by an entity are considered commercial vehicles.

According to the broad classifications, not every commercial vehicle is restricted to roads. Normally a car can also be a commercial automobile. Aside from a business-associated classification requirement, a motor vehicle that weighs more than 26,001 pounds will be a commercial vehicle.

We’ll cover a variety of truck gps apps and other gps apps that cover other commercial vehicles so you can make an informed decision on what is the right truck gps app for your needs:

1.Google Maps

2.SmartTruckRoute

3.Sygic Truck & Caravan Navigation

4.PTV Navigator

5.TruckMap

6.Trucker Path

7.RoadWarrior Route Planner

Can You Use Google Maps for Commercial Truck GPS?

Google Maps is a free online navigation app which helps plan trips with up to 10 stops. The main difference between Google Maps and truck gps apps is that Google Maps does not specifically have truck drivers in mind. For example, a truck driver would need at least 20 stops along their route and may want to see truck stops or weigh stations along the way.

While Google Maps has some great features that could be beneficial for truck drivers such as directing the driver to fuel stations, live traffic and lifetime map updates, lane guidance and route planning, Google Maps is more suited for personal use than for commercial truck drivers.

Google’s routing system does not optimize destination sequence so route planning is not efficient. It’s best used to guide the driver from their starting point to their destination and adding other points of interest along the way, if necessary.

SmartTruckRoute Truck GPS App

SmartTruckRoute is a trucking gps app that supports iPhone, Android and other smart devices. This gps system allows truck drivers to create truck routes with free map updates. This mobile app aims to improve driving performance by offering turn-by-turn driving directions, a built- in odometer, live maps updates and more.

SmartTruckRoute has the truck driver in mind because in addition to customizing vehicle specs and truck routes to reflect the size and weight limits of the vehicle, the app also has satellite images so drivers know ahead of time how to prepare for the truck entrance at their destination.

Other special features include avoiding low bridges, identifying weigh scales or weigh stations, the nearest truck stops, rest areas and gas stations to make your route as seamless as possible. For information on Smart TruckRoute truck GPS Apps, visit their site or Google Play or app store profiles.

Sygic Truck GPS Navigation

Sygic Truck GPS Navigation is a free trucking gps app that can be used not only by truck drivers, but also professional drivers who drive large sized commercial vehicles. They aim to replace regular gps devices and gps units. Sygic Truck Navigation App is designed for trucks, RV, buses, coaches and vans so it can create an actual route based on your vehicle’s specifications.

In addition to clear voice instruction, this mobile app has dynamic lane assistance by guiding drivers into the correct lane and highlighting the route at junctions. It provides route planning without tolls and sharp curves for safe driving as well as displaying the speed limits and alerts when the speed limit is exceeded. A detailed list of GPS navigation and features on Sygica Trucks can be found on its website and on Google Play.

PTV Navigator – Professional Navigation for Truck Routes

PTV Navigator provides custom truck routing for truck drivers, keeping in mind of truck restricted roads, truck friendly parking, gas stations, etc. The app is powered by TomTom gps navigation and monitors live traffic so users can plan truck routes that avoid traffic jams.

PTV Navigator also lets truck drivers avoid toll roads, residential areas, low emission zones and considers truck restrictions while they travel through the country as well as finding truck stops to ensure safe driving. At the moment it is available only on Android, but you can find more info at their website or the Google Play Store.

TruckMap – Truck GPS Routes

TruckMap is a free truck GPS app available on iPhone and Android. Like most truck gps apps, TruckMap has the specialized truck route planning features such as accounting for weight restrictions, avoiding low bridges and toll roads, driving directions based on real-time traffic and points of interest like weigh stations, but what makes TruckMap unique is its community of truck drivers.

Driving for long distances can be taxing and having support can go a long way. With TruckMap, other drivers within their community are constantly providing updates like truck parking availability, if a weigh station is open or closed and even comprehensive shipping facility reviews to keep you moving smoothly along your route with minimal delays.

In addition to the community of drivers and the truck navigation app features, TruckMap also has a marketplace with over 1.4 million drivers to book more jobs. TruckMap isn’t just truck gps and for the truck driver, it’s also for shippers and brokers to work together and help run their businesses more efficiently.

Trucker Path App for Truck Drivers

Trucker Path is a popular navigation software for truck routing. It provides drivers with easy-to-use information about stops at the road, weigh stations, fuel stops and parking availability.

Similar to TruckMap, Trucker Path is more than a truck gps app providing directions and optimizing routes. Trucker Path has different services that can appeal to the business owner and help with logistics and planning.

TruckLoads by Trucker Path

They have their version of a marketplace called TruckLoads that helps carriers and owner operators link up together to move freight via the mobile app or the web portal.

Carriers can easily find loads that TruckLoads has aggregated from brokers and shippers while brokers can post loads and find qualified carriers to transport freight with confidence.

Trucker Path COMMAND

If you’re a trucking fleet company, Trucker Path COMMAND is the enterprise edition of the Trucker Path app that enables your team to have truck dispatching and navigation. It comes with everything Trucker Path offers, but offers team communication and check-ins.

Trucker Path DISPATCH

If you don’t have an entire fleet, but still want the benefits of having a dispatcher, Trucker Path has their own dispatchers for you to use with Trucker Path DISPATCH.

They handle all of the office-related work so drivers can concentrate on driving and generating more revenue. Dispatchers will find loads for you, negotiate rates and send all the information to your mobile app so you can hit the road.

Road Warrior is useful for anyone who needs to plan and optimize their routes, such as delivery drivers, salespeople, and field technicians. It can save you time, reduce your fuel costs, and improve your overall efficiency.

RoadWarrior Route Planner

The app is available for download on both iOS and Android devices, and it offers a free trial for new users. After the trial period, you can choose to subscribe to one of their pricing plans, which offer various features and benefits depending on your needs.

Summary

In conclusion, the year 2025 is expected to bring significant advancements in the capabilities of commercial truck GPS apps. Trucking companies and individual truck drivers alike are advised to choose specialized vehicle navigation solutions designed to meet all truck route requirements. The best truck GPS apps will not only provide accurate turn-by-turn driving directions but also optimize the order of stops to reduce drive time, fuel cost and operating costs.

Among the various truck GPS apps available in the market, some of the top choices for commercial vehicles include SmartTruckRoute, Sygic Truck GPS Navigation, PTV Navigator, TruckMap, Trucker Path, and RoadWarrior Route Planner. While Google Maps remains a popular navigation app for personal use, it may not be the most efficient option for commercial truck drivers.

Ultimately, choosing the best truck GPS app will depend on a truck driver’s specific needs, including the type of commercial vehicle they drive, the routes they typically take, and the additional features they require. By carefully considering these factors and doing some research on available options, truck drivers can make informed decisions and maximize the benefits of a reliable truck GPS app.

You work four UPS routes and rely on the app each Saturday. You face 15 stops that are all over the place. Others rush around while you finish your work quickly. You wish for an option to take a picture of all the addresses from the manifest and have the app add them automatically. That would truly enhance the experience. It frustrates you when it skips addresses on your current road. There’s a lot of room for improvement in this app!

Driving a garbage truck in Nashville keeps me busy. Each day, I make around 140 stops across the city, picking up waste. Nashville is booming with new locations popping up everywhere. That’s where this amazing app comes into play. It makes my work so much easier. I can quickly organize my routes, even for places I haven't visited yet. The app gives me precise service times and helps me estimate arrival times accurately. I rely on this tool every day. Big shoutout to RoadWarrior!

Everything is going well here. Sometimes I find myself crossing the open water to reach a certain spot, when I could have just taken a left turn into the driveway. Those moments definitely bring some laughs. I'm getting used to the updates. Each stop now has an extra step. It's not a big deal in terms of time, but it adds a little more to the process. Overall, things are just fine.

I love how I can add multiple stops, and the app shows some accuracy. Still, I’m ready to stop using it. Too many tasks between two apps just to reach my next stop. The 500-character limit doesn’t cover my frustration. It only handles one destination at a time and often directs me to nearby properties or general areas. The routing system is decent yet causes more trouble than I can express.

This app makes life so much easier for me as a home health worker. It helps me schedule patients based on where they live, and I can plan my whole day efficiently. The customizations really fit my needs. I feel way more productive because of it. I took off one star since the navigation sometimes drops me at the wrong spot. I can just type in the address manually to solve that issue. Such an easy fix! Overall, it’s an excellent app. I even added a star back after the navigation got sorted out.

The app is quite handy for UPS and FedEx jobs. Having a barcode scanner would make things easier. Manual address entries can be a hassle. I subscribed a few weeks back but facing some issues lately. Randomly getting logged off is annoying, especially when switching between apps on Android. I'm planning to give it a month and see how it goes. Will share more updates soon.

For four years, this app was my go-to as a pest control technician. I recommended it to every new hire and trainee. Recently, everything changed. The new Here map ruined it for me. Now I can’t select stops from the map, and loading takes forever. This upgrade turned a great app into a disappointment.
