I found a straight line in my recorded trip - what can I do?

To get the most out of the RISER app, it is sometimes necessary to adapt the settings of your phone. Since the app relies on the information that it gets from the GPS sensor, it is crucial to have the right setup in order to let the app know where you are on the road and record the right locations.

SETTINGS FOR iPHONE

To make sure you have the right settings for RISER on your iPhone follow these steps:

1. Open the settings of your iPhone

2. Scroll down until you see RISER

3. Open “Location” and set to “Always”

4. Go back 1 step

5. Activate “Background App refresh”

SETTINGS FOR ANDROID

The settings for location permissions on Android are similar to the ones above for iPhone. Make sure RISER is allowed to use your location “while using the app” and check your battery optimization settings to have the optimal setup.

1. Open the settings of your Android phone

2. Go to Apps / Manage Apps

3. Navigate to RISER

4. Open permission

5. Set location to “While using the app”

On Android it is also important to disable the battery saving modes. If they are activated, it might occur that the phone will prevent the RISER app from getting location information when running in the background which can lead to straight lines in your recorded trips.

To check if the battery saving options are enabled:

1. Open the RISER app

2. Go to More -> Settings

3. Scroll down to “App optimization” and check if you have it marked with a green checkmark. If so – you are all set for your next adventure. If not it is necessary to do some adaptions.

Adapt settings for battery optimizations:

1. Tap on “App Optimization”

2. Click “Go to settings”

3. Select “All apps” (default might be “Not optimized”)

4. Srcoll down to RISER

5. Make sure you have “Not optimized” enabled

How can I add my bike to the garage?

You can add one or more motorcycles to your personal profile.

You can then assign the bikes to the trips you did or select your preferred bike right after your ride.

To add a bike, go to your profile (menu "More" - > "My profile") and tap on garage.

Click on the plus symbol to add your bike and expand your garage. You will be able to see an overview of all driven kilometers per bike as well as the number of ridden trips per motorcycle.

If a bike is missing, please add it as a suggestion or get in touch with us directly via support@riserapp.com

What is PackRide and how do I use it?

Activate the PackRide function when you want to hit the road with your friends. PackRide allows you to see where your friends are while driving and you will be notified automatically if, for example, someone falls behind.

To create a PackRide, simply start your trip and then click on the PackRide section on the start button. Afterwards, riders nearby can join your Pack.

If you decide to start a PackRide later during your ride, you can also do so at any time through the menu icon in the center at the bottom of the screen. There, you will find PackRide as the first function and the "Start" button.

To take part in a PackRide that has already been created, simply click on the red notice at the top of the screen or open the menu and join from there. Join the Pack and off you go.

The app shows my distance in kilometers but I want miles!

You can set your preferred unit of measure (Metric -Kilometer- or Imperial -Miles-) in the app in the menu item "More" -> "Settings" under the item "Units".

Problem one involved confusion between "Twisty" roads and housing estates. An exciting ride turned into a boring urban commute. Problem two brought issues with post codes, leading to skewed navigation. Problem three created more frustration by mixing up curves and turns. Directions arrived too late or not at all. The experience felt overwhelming and ultimately unhelpful. A nice try but lacking in practicality.

I really like using the app. It runs smoothly on my Galaxy S9+ and even on my old S6. One thing that would make it better is an option to save a planned ride for later or let me import a route from my PC. Also, having the ability to download a bigger area of offline maps would be awesome.

The app struggles with a pre-planned route. On my laptop, the route looks perfect on the website. I save it and pull it up on my phone, still looks right. But when I start riding, Riser insists on taking different roads. It frustrates me just like Rever does when I try to set my own routes with multiple waypoints. The app just doesn’t handle it well.

The map can be really confusing. Pinning the orientation feels impossible when navigating. No options to save favorite spots like home or work. Ending a route doesn’t stop tracking, which is annoying. Routes themselves work well and the app runs smoothly. Just wish there were easier settings to adjust. Turning off social features, ride tracking, saving locations, and changing map settings would make it so much better. Just some simple toggles would do the trick!

That sounds great! It’s awesome to hear that you’re feeling satisfied. Just a few more things to fine-tune. Exciting times ahead!

Yesterday, I decided to give the Adventure Navigator a shot. I was after a quick one-hour ride. The app suggested a few options, averaging around 1 hour and 30 minutes, which seemed fine to me. I picked one and set off. Right off the bat, I noticed the map didn’t update like I expected. Unlike Google Maps, it felt sluggish. At one point, Riser froze up completely. I didn’t realize it until I hit a closed street. That forced a detour. The app still showed my last position for several minutes. It felt like I was in a time warp. Suddenly, it started spitting out instructions all at once, as if trying to catch up. Total chaos ensued. I had to close the app and restart it just to see where I was again. Tried one more time, but it froze again, so I tossed it aside and opened Google Maps instead. My imagination kicked in, and I zigzagged on an improvised route. Even with those hiccups, I ended up having a good time, but man, did I waste a lot of time troubleshooting the app! If they fix these issues, I might consider using it again. A "Go Home" button would be great too. Sometimes, you just want a quick way back without any hassle.

The app has a lot of potential. The absence of direct support is a big drawback. I have some feedback that could help enhance the app. For example, the navigation map ties to the system theme. When set to dark mode on Android 11, the map turns black and makes it almost impossible to use while driving. Another problem is the lack of navigation audio. This makes the ride experience less enjoyable since you find yourself looking down at the screen instead of focusing on the road. These issues seem simple enough to fix.
