How to shoot motion video?
Motion video can extract pictures of the recorded images at a set time interval and then combine them into one picture, thereby recording the movement trajectory of the moving object.
In video playback mode, press Motion Video, the camera will detect the movement trajectory of the subject, extract pictures according to the interval time and combine them into one picture, as shown in the figure below.
You can adjust the interval of the track to create a picture that meets your requirements.
[1] Short interval
[2] Long interval
Playback Motion Video
The playback operation method varies depending on the model. Please refer to your device manual for confirmation.
Tips:
The camera will detect all moving objects in the picture, so it is easier to create a good effect if there is only one object in the picture.
It is easier to capture the trajectory at the wide angle than at the telephoto end.
If there is a moving object in the background or the video is shot in a dark environment, it is difficult for the camera to detect the background or moving objects, and it is also difficult to capture the trajectory of the video shot at this time.
If the subject is too large for the viewfinder, it may be difficult to detect the motion of the object and thus make it difficult to produce the desired effect.
If the subject moves too slowly or is barely moving, it will also be difficult to produce a trail.
Adjusting the interval of the image trail
You can select different interval levels.
On the far left (Level 1): This interval can be used to extract images of objects that move very quickly.
In the middle (Level 4): This interval can be used to extract images of objects that move at a medium speed.
On the far right (Level 7): This interval can be used to extract images of objects that move very slowly.
Note:
Motion Shot Video is not saved as a video, but as a photo.
When playing back a Motion Shot Video photo, there is no sound.
Motion Shot Video supports only AVCHD and MP4 formats.
Knowledge about shooting 120p / 100p high frame rate / HFR video with a6300 (ILCE-6300)
The a6300 (ILCE-6300) supports high frame rate video shooting, can shoot 1920 × 1080 (120p*/100p**) size movies, and can record movies at 120 fps/100 fps. After shooting, 100p or 120p videos will not have a slow motion effect when viewed on the camera. You can create smoother slow motion images using compatible editing software/devices (PlayMemories Home software editing is recommended).
120p*/100p** videos can be shot continuously for up to about 29 minutes (limited by product specifications).
Note:
For high frame rate shooting, set [File Format] to [XAVC S HD] and [Recording Setting] to 120p* or 100p**. Sound can be recorded.
*[120p] When [NTSC/PAL Selector] is set to NTSC
**[100p] When [NTSC/PAL Selector] is set to PAL
[120p]/[100p] cannot be selected for the following settings.
[Intelligent Auto]
[Enhanced Auto]
[Scene Selection]
The a6300 (ILCE-6300) also supports HFR* slow-motion video shooting (no sound is recorded, 120 fps/100 fps video with 1920*1080 resolution is recorded in XAVC S HD format), and supports 4x (30p/25p) or 5x (24p) slow-motion video shooting. The video you shoot will look like a slow-motion video when you play it back on the camera.
Single continuous recording time: High frame rate shooting: about 7 minutes for [30p 16M]/[25p 16M], about 5 minutes and 30 seconds for [24p 12M]
Note: The [HFR Settings] menu can only be set to [24p 12M] (5x slow motion) or [30p 16M] (4x slow motion) when [NTSC/PAL Selector] is set to NTSC. The menu is grayed out and cannot be set in PAL format. The default is 25p 16M (frame rate is 100fps, 4x slow motion).
The angle of view will be narrower under the following conditions:
When [File Format] is set to [XAVC S HD] and [Record Setting] is set to [120p]/[100p]
When [File Format] is set to [XAVC S 4K] and [Record Setting] is set to [30p]/[25p]
During high frame rate shooting
Note
Since this product has a VBR (Variable Bit-Rate) function that automatically adjusts the image quality according to the shooting scene, the recordable time of movies will vary.
When recording fast-moving subjects, the image will be clearer, but the recordable time will be shorter because more memory is required for recording.
The recordable time will also vary depending on the shooting conditions, subject, or image quality/size settings.
Playing back slow-motion movies takes four times the recording time of XAVC S HD 30p/25p 16M movies and five times the recording time of XAVC S HD 24p 12M movies.
Notes on continuous movie recording
When recording high-quality movies or shooting continuously using the image sensor, a lot of power is consumed. Therefore, if you shoot continuously, the temperature inside the camera will rise, especially the temperature of the image sensor. In this case, the camera will automatically turn off the power because the higher temperature will affect the image quality or affect the internal mechanism of the camera.
The length of time that movies can be recorded will vary depending on the camera's temperature, recording format/settings, or conditions before starting recording. After turning on the power, if you frequently change the composition or shoot images, the temperature inside the camera will rise and the recordable time will become shorter.
When displayed, stop recording movies.
If the camera stops recording due to temperature reasons, turn off the camera power and leave it for a few minutes. Start recording after the temperature inside the camera has completely dropped.
