Because of how the Exchange Bubble and Wishlist work, it makes trading actually hard because for a lot of players as you may not have anything other people specifically want.

If you don't specifically have at least one of the items on someone's Wishlist **and** the other person also does not have any from yours... NO Exchange Bubble pops up whatsoever.

To counteract this conundrum and increase trading opportunities, people put starter items on their Wishlist so that the Exchange Bubble ALWAYS pops up no matter what, by using an item that EVERYONE has multiple of since the start of the game

Using 'The Letter Method', the Exchange Bubble is FORCE popped up for everyone you meet, meaning you have more opportunities to trade or just see who has the items you are searching for.

Overall it massively increases your chances of making trades and finding people with items you want to trade for!
