1. Getting your first Equipment

At the start of the game, you will not have anything with you, not even a piece of clothing. The first thing you want to do when you started the game is to get your equipment. Getting equipment at the start of the game is both easy and hard.

The easy part is that you will get a free ax and a free pickaxe for you to get the materials you need, take note that even when you have both types of equipment, the axe and the pickaxe cannot become your weapon, you will still attack with your bare hands.

As for clothing and your weapon, you will need to fight the soldiers that attacking you, be careful with the fight because you will be fighting empty-handed against a group of armed soldiers. Once you are done defeating them, some of them will be surrounded with white light, the one with the light is a sign that you can loot their thing and equipment that they have. So, it means that the way for you to get your first weapon is by looting the defeated soldiers.

2. Gathering Materials

Part of this game is also a survival game. As you know, in most survival games the players will need to actively search for materials such as woods, stones, and foods to survive and maintain their weapons, Gladiators: Survival in Rome is no different, you will need to go out and search for the materials for yourself, you will need woods, stones, meats, and hide to maintain your equipment and survive in the game.

The ways of getting those materials are:

Woods: since you already have an axe as your free equipment, you can start chopping trees that you see along the way in your adventure. Chopping the tree will be done manually where you will need to tap the action button repeatedly. You can chop various sizes of trees, from big trees to small trees.

Stones: you will see big stones almost every time you walk around, with your pickaxe you can chipping the big stones into smaller one, once you are done chipping the stones, the small stones will automatically sent to your inventory. You can also chip the stones that blocking your way. Unlike woods, there are other way than chipping big stones, you can take a small stone from the ground, to do that you just need to go near the stone that you want to pick, then you press the hand symbol, your character will pick the stone from the ground, and it will be saved in your inventory.

Meat: the same with how you get stones, there are two ways to get meat in the game, the first is to hunt, you need to find an animal that you can attack, and you just need to attack it, the other way is to find enemy soldier’s camp, some of the camp will have meat hung in a piece of rope, you can take it and the meat will be saved in your inventory.

Hide: hide is the material you need in order to make leather. To get this, you will need to hunt an animal, not only the animal will give you meat, but it also gives you hide.

You might be confused or maybe you are too lazy to change equipment for every material-gathering activity, but no need to worry, because in the action button, if you come close to the material source, the equipment in that button will automatically change.

3. Equipment sustainability

Keep in mind that you cannot always use your equipment in a normal state, after some time of use, your equipment will be broken, which will make the efficiency of the equipment drop. To avoid that, you can repair your equipment in your village.

In case of your weapon, you will need to keep the spare weapon in your inventory, this will be helpful when you are attacked by soldiers but your weapon that you are using is broken, you can switch it with the spare one in your inventory and throw the broken one to save space in your inventory.

4. Start building your City

At the start of the game, you have nowhere to come back until you rescue one NPC, and that NPC will guide you to a village where you can build necessary things. This village is also will become your city, later on, so you need to start building something, and it will start with building those necessary things.

Those necessary things are:

Storage: in case your inventory is full, and you have time to return to the village, you can split the items and equipment you have in your inventory to the storage or put them all in the storage.

Cooking pot: we assume you all know what this is for, this will be the place where you cook your meat from hunting.

Chopping spot: there are two wood producing facility, this is one of them. Chopping spot is the place for you to produce firewood and wedges.

Sawhorse: the other wood producing facility, sawhorse will help you produce flitch and billet.

Tent: you will need workers to operate these facilities one day, and it is obvious for you to provide place for those workers to live.

5. Hiring Workers

Along the way, you might find people who are in trouble. You can help the people and you might hire them as workers when you are started building your city. Hiring workers will help you create items more efficiently, you also will save your own energy from producing the items.
