The app is available for download at no cost. You can read seven complimentary articles weekly on your smartphone without needing a subscription. While you can browse the Edition on your tablet, article reading is not available. Subscribers enjoy unlimited access to articles, the Digital Edition, and the digital version of the printed paper daily.

If I am a subscriber, how do I access all articles in the Volkskrant news app?

By signing in through the app, you gain unlimited access to the latest news. On your smartphone, select "Service" in the navigation bar. On a tablet, choose "Menu" in the upper left corner of the screen. Then click "Login" in the appearing menu. Enter your email address and password for your DPG Media account. If you don’t have an account, follow the on-screen instructions to create a free one. You will be logged in automatically.

If I am not a subscriber, how can I access all articles in the Volkskrant app?

You have the option for unlimited access to the latest news in the app by selecting one of several (digital) subscription plans. These options start at a few euros each week. Subscriptions can be purchased through your Google Play account. Charges will apply upon purchase confirmation, unless a free trial period is applicable first. The subscription renews automatically unless canceled up to 24 hours before the renewal date. After your purchase, you can manage or modify your subscription in the "Subscriptions" section of the Google Play app.

How can I manage or change my Volkskrant subscription?

With a DPG Media account you can log in to the websites and apps of all DPG Media brands, including NU.nl, AD, de Volkskrant, Trouw, Het Parool, de Stentor, Tubantia, de Gelderlander, het ED, Brabants Dagblad, BN DeStem and the PZC. You can also log in to our magazines such as Libelle, Margriet, Story and AutoWeek.

When you log in, you will have access to certain extras or options. These differ per brand. Do you have a subscription to one of the news brands? Then you will have unlimited access to all articles and videos of that news brand.

How do I create an account and link my subscription?

You can create an account via this link by entering your email address and a new password.

Why can I use my account on a maximum of 3 web browsers and/or devices with apps?

We have set this maximum to prevent multiple people from using one account. An account is personal and not intended to be shared. We have laid this down in our subscription conditions and in our terms of use.

With a limit of 3, you can use your account on a mobile phone, a tablet and a computer. If you use multiple DPG Media apps on one device, this will of course continue to count as one device. Please note: if you use both a web browser and apps on one device, this will count double.

What is a web browser?

A web browser is a program used to view websites. The most commonly used web browsers are Chrome (Google), Safari (Apple), Edge (Microsoft) and Firefox (Mozilla).

You can open DPG Media websites, such as ad.nl, volkskrant.nl and nu.nl or demorgen.be and hln.be, via your web browser. You can open multiple websites at the same time in separate tabs in your web browser.

When do I exceed the limit of 3?

You exceed the limit if you use your account on more than 3 web browsers and/or devices with apps in one day. You use your account when you visit one or more DPG Media websites or apps while logged in. Please note: if you use both a web browser and apps on one device, this counts double.

Example 1: You have used your account in 1 web browser on your laptop (for example Chrome), on 1 phone with apps and on 1 tablet with apps. This brings you to the maximum of 3. If you now also use your account in another web browser, you will exceed the limit.

Example 2: You have used your account in 1 web browser on your laptop (for example Explorer) and on your phone you have used both apps and a web browser. This brings you to the maximum of 3. If you now also use your account on a tablet with apps, you will exceed the limit.
