Another Dungeons & Dragons Video Game in Production at Hasbro

Hasbro has announced that, following the success of Baldur's Gate 3, yet another Dungeons & Dragons game is in production.

CEO Chris Cocks told Bloomberg that a fifth D&D game is in development but didn't share what it's about, its genre, or the studio making it. It does appear to be in active production, however, as Cocks noted in the same interview that its G.I. Joe game is currently in pre-production.

While D&D has long spawned video game adaptations, the mainstream success captured by Larian Studios' Baldur's Gate 3 has seemingly set Hasbro and direct owner Wizards of the Coast into overdrive.

Alongside this mysterious game mentioned by Cocks, Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance developer Invoke Studios is also working on a triple-A game based on the beloved role-playing game universe, plus there's a D&D survival RPG life simulator from the Disney Dreamlight Valley developer.

Virtual reality fans can also look forward to a D&D game too, as Resolution Games, the developer behind tabletop RPG simulator Demeo, is working on a game set in Faerûn too. This isn't confirmed to be a recreation of the core D&D experience in a virtual setting but almost certainly is. And there's a co-op D&D game codenamed Project Baxter in the works at Payday developer Starbreeze.

Baldur's Gate 3 arrived in July 2023 and became the surprise hit of the year, with players obsessing over its seemingly infinite number of playstyles and story outcomes. It was incredibly successful commercially, pulling in $90 million for Hasbro, and is, remarkably, more popular this year than last.

In our 10/10 review, IGN said: "With crunchy, tactical RPG combat, a memorable story with complex characters, highly polished cinematic presentation, and a world that always rewards exploration and creativity, Baldur's Gate 3 is the new high-water mark for CRPGs."

The game is entertaining. Some bugs can be annoying, like the one that causes you not to do damage or the issue of your character just walking without doing anything. Those moments can be frustrating. Still, the game shines with its original art and an intriguing genre that catches the eye. Overall, it offers a fun experience despite its hiccups.

I spotted this game on iOS and assumed it wasn't available for mobile. It popped up yesterday. I gave it a try, and the game has some real charm. However, my phone struggled with frame drops, even though the graphics are pixel art. My phone specs should handle it just fine since Genshin Impact runs smoothly. I hope the issue gets resolved soon. This game has so much potential!

This game is so much fun! I reached a pretty high level, but then I lost my account. It's frustrating. I try to log in with my email, but I can't recover it. Now I'm back to square one and starting all over again. Plus, it keeps asking to download data every week or so. Those issues can be annoying. But still, it's a great game overall!

I updated the game, but it takes forever to load after I download the resources. Once it finally loads, it starts showing the story but kicks me out immediately. I tried deleting and redownloading the resources multiple times, but nothing changes. This issue needs a fix. Thank you.

The game had its moments of lag. On the bright side, it featured an auto option and some really unique graphics. However, item drops were disappointing. Gears and materials came from quest completions, but getting random rewards felt frustrating. Destroying gear when it didn’t meet the success rate seemed harsh. Losing gear with no compensation stung a bit. At level 15, I focused on my quests only to find players swiftly taking out every animal I needed for my tasks, making it tough to progress.

So frustrating! After waiting for months, the game still won’t let you play. You pick a name and then just sit there staring at that loading screen. It goes on forever, and then bam! The game crashes. No chance to see what it’s like or take those first steps. What a letdown!

The game keeps crashing, so frustrating. It’s a pixelated game, yet the concept art is all in full HD. Not everyone can afford high-end phones. A pixelated game should run easily on low-end devices. What's happening here? The game risks dying if it keeps pushing players away. Average phones struggle just to run it. The outcome seems clear: fewer players mean lower revenues. That spells trouble for the game’s future.

The gameplay feels like a loop that never ends. Every quest resembles the last one—just kill a certain number of enemies and move on to the next spot to do it all over again. The drop rates frustrate players, especially for free-to-play folks. It seems impossible to make progress without spending. Many other games offer a better experience for free players. I couldn't stick around. I uninstalled it after just an hour and a half.

Every time I attempt to log in, the progress stops at 90%. Clearing junk files didn’t help. Only having 6 gigabytes left hasn’t made a difference either. It finally loaded, but when I hit the Google account option, it kicks me out of the game. One star for this! Fix it now! If you don’t, I won’t play your game again! I really want to know if it’s fun because I love adventure games!

I’ve spent about an hour with the game, and it’s pretty enjoyable. I haven’t explored everything yet, but so far, it feels like a relaxing way to spend time. It follows that "dungeon runner" formula, letting you breeze through quests by clicking a tab and auto-mapping to your objectives. The storyline is decent; it doesn't drag on. The conversations with NPCs aren't tedious either. All in all, it's worth checking out!
