**The game is now accessible in ten different languages! Both squirrels and trees can enjoy it in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese!**
CAUTION: This mobile and VR game is highly engaging and MUST BE STARTED BY A PLAYER WITH A VR HEADSET (Meta Quest, Pico Neo3, Pico 4, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Valve Index, or Windows Mixed Reality) and requires at least one additional player on a mobile device (minimum 1 GB RAM, Android 6 and above).
The golden acorns are under siege! It’s your mission, alongside your friends, to safeguard them or pilfer them - depending on whether you’re using a VR headset to embody a fiercely protective tree or partaking as one of several clever squirrels on a mobile device - in the cross-platform party game, Acron: Attack of the Squirrels!, from Resolution Games.
This delightfully entertaining experience begins with a player using a VR headset (Meta Quest, Pico Neo3, Pico 4, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Valve Index, or Windows Mixed Reality) who sets up a room. This player can then connect with one to eight participants on their smartphones and/or tablets by providing them the designated room number they enter when prompted to become rebellious squirrels determined to steal the golden acorns using a unique set of abilities.
The game shines brightest when enjoyed as a couch party game with friends, balancing both competitive and cooperative elements for players across VR and mobile platforms. Once gameplay begins, a VR player takes on the identity of a massive, ancient tree attempting to thwart the squirrels’ attempts to swipe the nuts by utilizing the controllers to seize and toss wood chunks, boulders, and sticky sap to deter the squirrels. Meanwhile, the group of squirrels (mobile players) can utilize various tools and distractions - such as planting seeds that grow into pumpkin barriers, creating bushes for cover, placing mushrooms that serve as jumping pads, and more - all while collaborating to devise tactics to outsmart the tree and successfully gather as many acorns as possible.
Meet the mischievous team of squirrels aiming to snatch the golden acorns:
* Zip - agile and quick; she is the fastest squirrel, boasting impressive speed running skills
* Chunk - the gentle giant with a kind heart who shields his friends by carrying a sturdy shield
* Doug - perhaps not the sharpest acorn in the bunch, but he uses his anger effectively to dig tunnels for safe underground travel
* Sim - a clever little critter who is rather eccentric and constructs ramps for upward mobility
How do I set up a game with my friends?
The VR player starts the game and creates a room. The VR player is then connected to the mobile players by giving them the assigned room number that they enter into the game on their device when prompted.
How do I choose a region?
The region (the game server you connect to) will automatically be set by your VR headset to provide the best connection for your location. This may sometimes be different to your actual geographical position. You can reset the region and let the headset locate the best connection again by pressing the left menu button and choosing the option in the settings. You may have to do this if you bring your headset to a different location (eg. travel to another country or state).
How are the players connected?
The VR player starts the game and creates a room. He or she then connects to the mobile players by giving them the assigned room number that they enter into their device when prompted.
If you aren't in the same room as the other players, are you able to hear them?
There’s no mic functionality right now as the intention of the game is to be a local party game. However, if you are not in the same location as the other players, we have seen some players using tools like Discord, Skype, Google Hangouts, etc. - to make the most of the cooperative nature of the game and initiate gameplay sessions.
Do all players (both on mobile and VR) have to be in the same room / location?
Players don’t have to be on the same wifi or in the same location, but given the cooperative nature of the game it is best when played as a couch party game together with a bunch of friends.
