Using VoteSwiper, you can conveniently identify political parties that align with your beliefs during elections. By responding to questions on relevant issues through a simple swipe, we will inform you of the parties that resonate with your political perspectives.

The well-received application is being launched in an international version for the European elections for the very first time, available across various countries and languages. This enables you to also explore opinions on topics from other EU member nations.

Which parties are allowed to participate in VoteSwiper?

Yes, we always ask all parties that have been admitted to an election by the election officer. We do not exclude anyone.

How are the parties' answers determined?

Each party submits the answers to our questions and the corresponding explanations directly to us.

How is the result calculated?

For each question you answer, we compare your position with the answers of the parties. If there is a match, we give a point. If you weigh a thesis twice, there are two points. In the evaluation, the percentage indicates how much you agree with the answers of the parties.

Who developed the app?

We are a team of journalists, political students, app developers, graphic artists, volunteers and video producers who worked together on the project in their spare time. We develop the content together with independent partners, such as universities.

In 2021 we open sourced the app code, to make it transparent to everyone.

Why can I choose more parties here than are written on my ballot paper?

We have approached all the parties who will be running for election in the respective election. Not all parties are available in all regions. Therefore, it is possible that you will be shown a party that you cannot vote for at all. Please inform yourself on which parties are available.

Who selects the questions?

For many years, we have been working with political scientists at the University of Freiburg led by Prof. Dr. Uwe Wagschal. The team develops the questionnaire and selects the final questions that you can answer at WahlSwiper.
