Music rhythm game "VOEZ" is fun to play with headphones

VOEZ

After "Cytus" and "Deemo", Taiwan game developer Rayark's latest "VOEZ" is also a music rhythm game, but this time the plot is richer, telling the story of the six protagonists who met in high school and formed the band "VOEZ".

VOEZ

Based on Yilan, Taiwan

The fictional town in the game background is a simple and vibrant town. As the game progresses, more different cities and scenery will appear. The Lankong Town, Lankong Station, and Lankong Fishing Port that appear in the game are actually based on the real scenes of Luodong Town, Yilan, Taiwan. "VOEZ" is a music rhythm game that provides 3 different difficulties: easy, hard, and special. There are currently 50 songs, 8 of which are free. The game will update more paid and free songs for players to play from time to time!

The "track" changes with the rhythm of the music

VOEZ

In the arrangement of notes, there are taps for clicking, slides for sliding with your finger when a row falls, hold for pressing and holding, and swipes for sliding in the direction of the arrow. The change of the "track" is the biggest selling point of this game. It will change its position and size with the rhythm of the music, making the gameplay ever-changing and irresistible. The music style is very wide, including pop, piano, rock and electronic. Most of the songs are very good, and using headphones to play the game can give you a better experience. In terms of the payment mechanism, keys are needed to unlock songs and draw avatars. Keys can be purchased one by one or in a package. In fact, players can get keys every time they complete the main task, but the number is not large!

The game is amazing! The artwork looks fantastic! The characters are memorable, the songs are catchy, and the gameplay is incredibly enjoyable! I really get into it. But wow, the diary part can be tricky. This activation thing needs 25 different songs, and I’ve only unlocked 10. The keys to unlock more songs feel a bit too expensive. I wonder if there’s another way to earn those keys? I’m excited for upcoming updates! :D

The gameplay shines with creativity and excitement. The mechanics keep players engaged and entertained. However, the online play presents a drawback. It's odd that the game labels itself as "Single player" while needing an internet connection. Despite this issue, the overall experience remains enjoyable and impressive.

This game has a lot going for it. The songs are fantastic, and the gameplay stands out as unique and enjoyable. However, the experience on mobile gets clouded by its microtransaction model. The always-online requirement can be frustrating. Paying around $1 for a single song or a staggering $40 for most of them feels excessive. This is also the only Rayark game not available on Play Pass, which adds to the disappointment. If you can, go for the Switch version or emulate it instead. You’ll find a much better experience without the annoying issues present in the mobile version.

After four years of playing this game, I’ve switched devices a few times, yet it still impresses me. The graphics look stunning, the story mode keeps me engaged, and while the song collection isn’t huge, the quality shines through. It has a gentle charm that sets it apart from games like Deemo or Cytrus. This one has truly become a memorable experience for me.

The game has always been a favorite of mine, but this new update? It's a mess. Nothing loads. Announcements just won’t show up. My biggest frustration? Quitting a song leaves me stuck. The song select screen becomes a dead end. I can't move on to another song. It just freezes. Restarting the app is the only way to break free from it. So annoying!

The game's art style dazzles with its beauty, and the music creates an amazing atmosphere. However, it misses some key elements that make gameplay less enjoyable compared to similar titles. Striking a note offers no feedback, leaving players uncertain about their accuracy. As the difficulty ramps up, challenges arise. The lanes shift unpredictably, surprising players without any prior warning. On top of that, there's a noticeable absence of meaningful progression to keep motivation high.

You've been diving into this game for four years, and it’s become your favorite. You love sharing it with friends too. Recently, some new features have left you scratching your head. Taking pictures, recording audio, and videos sounds intriguing. There’s a gallery, but you're not quite sure what its purpose is. You wonder about the keys as well. Do we have access to more keys now? Can we use them to buy those cool new skins and sounds, or are they exclusive to VIP members? So many questions buzzing around!
