A:To use Valopilkku, you need either an iPhone or an Android smartphone. Watch the tutorial video here.

2、Q:Does it cost to book via the Valopilkku app?

A:Booking a taxi ride through the app is free. Registration is done during setup and costs the price of a standard text message.

3、Q:In which areas does Valopilkku operate?

A:Valopilkku is a nationwide taxi booking app. Through Valopilkku, you can reach 95% of Finns.

4、Q:I have chosen a fixed-price ride – can I make a detour to another address along the way?

A:The ride price is calculated based on your provided pick-up and drop-off addresses, so detours from the route are not possible.

5、Q:What payment methods can I use to pay for the taxi ride in the app?

A:You can pay for the taxi ride with Mastercard, Visa credit and debit cards, and Amex. Additionally, you can pay using MobilePay and Apple Pay. If you did not select a fixed price, payment is made in the car according to the taxi meter.

6、Q:Can I choose the car type, for example, a van taxi?

A:Yes, you can. There are four selection options: all taxi types (fastest possible booking), passenger car, station wagon/van, and van taxi. You can also request an electric car. Note that car type selection may not be available in all areas.

7、Q:Can I pre-book a taxi with Valopilkku?

A:Pre-booking is currently available in the Helsinki metropolitan area, Tampere, Kuopio, Oulu, Levi-Kittilä, and Rovaniemi Airport. We will expand pre-booking to other areas as soon as possible.

8、Q:Can I see the approaching taxi on the map?

A:You can track the arriving car’s progress on the map and receive an estimated arrival time.

9、Q:Which smartphones is the app compatible with?

A:Valopilkku works on iPhones and Android devices. You can download the app from the App Store and Google Play.

10、Q:My address is not found in the app – how do I book a ride?

A:Valopilkku uses Here Maps address data. Although map data is updated continuously, some addresses are unfortunately missing from the database.

To book a ride to a missing address, book the car to the nearest available address and, if necessary, add a message about the correct address in the “Message to driver” field. You can also always call the driver who received your booking.
