Your objective is to quickly uncover the identities of the other players (including your own!) in order to eliminate opponents.

BASIC RULES:

• Roles: Players can take on the role of either a Civilian or an Impostor (known as Undercover or Mr.White).

• Obtain your secret word: Pass the device around so that each participant can select their identity and receive a secret word! Civilians will have the same word, the Undercover will have a slightly altered word, and Mr.White won’t receive a word at all…

• Describe your word: Each player takes turns giving a brief, honest description of their word, while Mr.White must improvise.

• Time to vote: After discussing, players vote to eliminate someone they believe has a different word. The app then reveals the role of the eliminated individual!

Note: Mr.White emerges victorious if he accurately identifies the word of the Civilians!

FAQ

Can I play the game when I don't have internet (camping, vacationing)?

Absolutely yes!

If one person has downloaded the game on a smart phone, you can use the “Pass and Play” (currently named “Offline Mode”) to play. Under this mode, only 1 phone and no internet is required.

I don't like other person touching my phone (what with COVID, etc.). Can everyone play on their own phone even when we are physically together?

Absolutely yes!

Click on the door button on the home screen, choose the “Online Mode” and then click “Create new game”.

Now you can choose to create a Private game and share its game link or code with your friends. Only people with the code can enter your private room.

If you want to play with our global player community, create a Public game and have fun!

Should I vote for Mr.White or the Undercover first?

We always recommend to eliminate Mr.White first.

Since Mr.White can win by guessing the Civilians’ word correctly, the longer they stay, the easier for them to guess the Civilians’ word and win!

What to do when there is an equality of votes?

We recommend 3 ways to settle the situation:

Option 1: Use rock-paper-scissors!

Option 2: Voted players give 1 more description each, and the remaining players re-vote.

Option 3: Use the Goddess of Justice special role!

Can Undercovers and Mr.White win together?

Yes!

If there is only 1 Civilian left while at least 1 Undercover and 1 Mr.White are still in the game, the Impostors (Undercover and Mr.White) win together!

Can I add my own words in the game?

Yes, you can!

On the game creation screen, click the word library button top-right. Select “Personal Library” and add the words you want to play with. We’ve heard of players using their special words for special parties, in language classes, assembly at school and team building events.

Meanwhile, we have also hand-picked 1000+ words in each of our 28 supported languages. We add new words periodically. You can choose to enable them from the “Settings” screen as well. Have fun!
