Sony Timelapse Controller: A Reliable and Efficient Tool for Interval Photography

As an avid photographer who frequently works with timelapse projects, I have found the Sony Timelapse Controller app to be an incredibly useful and dependable tool. Its straightforward interface and robust functionality make it easy to set up and capture interval shots remotely with my Sony camera, eliminating the need for manual intervention or additional hardware.

The ability to customize the shooting interval and initial delay provides great flexibility, while the option to keep the display off during capture helps conserve battery—a thoughtful feature for extended shooting sessions. Although the app doesn’t compile images into a video, it reliably saves high-quality photos directly to the camera’s SD card, ensuring maximum resolution and giving me full creative control during post-processing. This app has become an essential part of my workflow, especially for projects requiring precision and consistency.

To make Serenity run smoothly, turn off any sleep settings for Wi-Fi. Keep your control device plugged in. It works perfectly and costs nothing.

It used to work great with the Sony RX100IV. I turned on the remote feature and connected via Wi-Fi. There’s a problem, though. When I set the number of pictures, it counts down even if the shot hasn’t been taken yet. For example, if I set it for 100, I only get about 49 photos, not even half of what I wanted. It would be fantastic to have advanced settings for faster timelapse, maybe with half-second intervals. Just keep in mind, a faster card is necessary. My 65MB/sec card started to buffer during use.

Absolutely, the app works great with the Sony a6300. If you've enjoyed it on your a6000, you'll find it just as effective. The user-friendly interface makes everything seamless. Many appreciate how smoothly it operates, enhancing their photography experience. Glad to hear you love it!

The connection issue with Sony A7rII after v3.0 is frustrating. Many people are experiencing the same problem. It used to work flawlessly, but now things have changed. Trying to reconnect doesn't seem to help. It's disappointing when technology lets you down like this.
