Order a new subscription (with a new SIM)
You can order a new subscription in our online store, via our stores, or via customer service. In the online store, you choose whether you want a physical SIM card or eSIM during the order process. You will also be asked about this in store and with customer service.
Order a new SIM on an existing subscription
You can easily order a new SIM as a replacement for one of your active subscriptions or services.
Here's how to do it on My Page:
Go to SIM/PIN/PUK on My Page (you must log in here)
Select the mobile number in question
Press "..." in the right corner of the SIM card you want to replace
Press "Order replacement"
Select SIM or eSIM
Make sure the email address in the email field is correct.
Complete the order by pressing "Order replacement"
Here's how to do it in the app:
Log in to the app and go to Mobile
First press the subscription you want to change the SIM for, and then "Your subscription".
Scroll down to the bottom and tap "SIM, PIN and PUK".
Select which SIM card you want to replace (in the example we select Main SIM), and tap "Replace SIM card".
Tap OK, and select SIM or eSIM. Then, tap "Next".
Make sure everything is correct, and tap "Confirm" to complete the SIM order.
How to activate a SIM card
New subscription (completely new number or transferred from another provider)
You will receive an SMS with the date and time when you will use your new SIM card. If you have a subscription from another provider, this will be automatically terminated when you transfer to Telia.
At the time of transfer, follow the steps below:
Broken out the correct size of the SIM card.
Insert the SIM card into your mobile and turn it on.
Now you need the PIN code, which can be found on the back of the plastic card.
That's it, now you can just call, text and surf away.
Activate a new SIM card on an existing Telia number
You can easily do this yourself on My Page:
Go to SIM/PIN/PUK on My Page (you must log in here)
Scroll down to the heading "Activate new SIM card", and select Main SIM in the drop-down menu.
Fill in the number of the new SIM card (20 digits, or the last 12).
Press "Activate", wait a moment, and you will see confirmation of the activation.
It may take a few minutes for your new SIM card to be active. The old SIM card will stop working when the new one is active.
If you have already inserted the new card, turn your mobile phone off and on again after activation.
If not, do the following:
a) Break out the correct size of the SIM card.
b) Insert the SIM card into the mobile phone, and turn it on.
c) Now you need the PIN code. You can find it on the back of the plastic card.
d) That's it, now all you have to do is call, text and surf.
The 2G network is history
Society is increasingly demanding a strong, reliable and fast mobile network. Since August 2025, Telia has shut down 2G county by county, and on December 2nd it will also end in Oslo, Akershus, Drammen, Østfold and Vestfold.
If you have a mobile phone that supports 4G and/or 5G, you will not notice this, but there may still be some gadgets in the thousands of homes that only support 2G.

Why are we turning off the 2G network?
All technology ages and must eventually be replaced with new and modern technology. The shutdown of the 2G network is part of the ongoing modernization of the mobile network where 2G frequencies are being replaced by 4G and 5G.
This is why the 2G network is being switched off:
The mobile network is a limited resource, and in order to offer new services over 4G and 5G, we need more space in the network. The space currently used for 2G is freed up and can thus be used for 4G/5G.
The 4G and 5G networks have better coverage, capacity and efficiency than the 2G network, which makes them better suited to handling an increasing number of connected devices. The modern networks are also more secure and more robust.
More modern technology can contribute to a more climate-smart society. The new networks are up to five times more energy efficient than the older ones.
The use of 2G technology is declining sharply as 4G and 5G are used by more and more businesses and individuals.
When will 2G be switched off in my area?
The entire 2G network is now closed. Buskerud and parts of the Inland region were the first to be shut down in August, followed by Southern Norway and other parts of the country, before Oslo and the surrounding area were shut down on December 2.

What will the shutdown of the 2G network mean for me?
If you have a mobile phone or other equipment that supports 4G and/or 5G, as well as 4G Voice, you will not notice this. Telia's modern and fast 4G and 5G networks are deployed throughout the country.

However, if you use equipment that depends on the 2G network, you must replace the equipment well in advance before the 2G network is shut down. The shutdown of the 2G network means that mobile phones, modems and IoT solutions that communicate via the 2G network will no longer work.
Examples of devices affected:
Older mobile phones without 4G or 5G support
Alarm systems and security alarms
Elevator alarms
eCall emergency systems in cars
Sensors
After the end of 2025, equipment based on 2G technology only will no longer be usable.
Not sure if your mobile phone works with 4G and 5G?
Most people have a mobile phone that supports 4G and/or 5G. You can check if your phone supports the new technologies by going into your mobile phone's settings and checking the options under "Mobile network" or "Data communication". If you find options for voice and data in 4G/5G, you should select it. If a 4G option is missing, your phone is too old and you should replace it well in advance before the 2G network is shut down.
