MM6 Maison Margiela: The Maison's Most Irreverent and Conceptual Line Is Now Available at SVD
The MM6 Maison Margiela Philosophy
Maison Margiela was founded by Belgian designer Martin Margiela in 1988 and quickly became an icon of avant-garde fashion thanks to its deconstructed approach, teamwork, and commitment to anonymity as part of the creative process. In 1997, MM6 was born, originally known as "Line 6": a more accessible line that maintained the experimental spirit of the main label, but focused on an urban, practical, and contemporary wardrobe. Renamed in 2004 to MM6 Maison Margiela, the line continues its creative exploration, focusing on gender-neutral silhouettes, oversized cuts, and premium materials. Its intention to challenge the established order without losing sophistication is also reflected in the brand's creative direction, which remains anonymous. A collaborative identity built through form
Over the years, MM6 has reinforced its identity through collaborations that have expanded the boundaries between fashion and function: from technical hybrids created with Salomon, such as the XT-4 Mule, the X-ALP, and the ACS Pro, to reinterpretations of archival footwear with Dr. Martens; from the MM6 Japanese Bag in collaboration with Eastpak—a true functional sculpture—to T-shirts, hoodies, and pants with a lot of attitude with Supreme.
The brand also has memorable in-house pieces that have generated quite a stir in the fashion world, such as the tabi-style split-toe ankle boots. Among the most coveted pieces in the line—and which you can now find at SVD—are the relaxed-fit jeans, deconstructed sweaters, functional sweatshirts, and sculptural rings.
Each MM6 garment, shoe, or accessory tells a story through its form.
