✏️ Overview of Staying Alive:

Staying Alive is a mobile application designed to enable individuals trained in CPR, as well as those who are not, to assist in saving a person experiencing cardiac arrest by receiving alerts from Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

🎯 Our objective:

In France, roughly 50,000 cases of sudden cardiac arrest occur each year. Unfortunately, the survival rate from this critical issue is below 10%. Our aim is to address the urgent need for response to cardiac arrest by bringing together a dedicated and trained community to make the world a safer place.

🦸 Your involvement through Staying Alive:

You can provide immediate assistance to the victim either by performing CPR or retrieving a defibrillator.

This app empowers all citizens to contribute during a cardiac arrest situation, significantly improving the victim's chance of survival (every minute that passes reduces their survival odds by 10%).

Additionally, you will be part of building a database of Automated External Defibrillators (AED), which we offer free of charge to EMS services.

👉How to use

To use the app effectively, first, navigate to the map view where you can locate various defibrillators marked with green symbols, allowing you to find the nearest one in case of an emergency. The app provides access to a comprehensive database of over 320,000 defibrillators, guiding you to the closest device and enabling you to contribute to its listing. Additionally, the app encourages everyone, regardless of their CPR training status, to participate in life-saving efforts by choosing their level of commitment. It offers tutorials on first aid, including CPR, to keep users informed on how to respond to emergency situations. This feature ensures that users are prepared and can act swiftly and confidently during a crisis, potentially making a significant difference in outcomes.

You decided to register as a citizen responder in your area. Excitement filled you. You entered your Canadian postal code, hoping to join the community. But frustration hit when the app rejected it repeatedly. "Invalid zip," it kept saying. Zip codes don't exist in Canada. The app felt unwelcoming. You hadn’t explored its features yet, but that experience left you puzzled. What now?

OpenStreetMap offers detailed and up-to-date geographic information. Many people use it for navigation, planning, and emergency response. The community constantly updates the map, making it more reliable. In crisis situations, having access to accurate data can guide rescue efforts and help those in need. Using OpenStreetMap could enhance situational awareness. Lives depend on quick and informed decisions during emergencies. Leveraging this resource can definitely make a difference.

A spinning circle keeps going round and round. You tap the location button, and suddenly, the app shuts down. Just like that.

Great potential for a five-star rating. The locations of AEDs have significant gaps. A connection with AED providers like HeartSafe would help map all current AEDs efficiently.

The system feels outdated. It glitches right when you attempt to add a new AED. Frustrating experience for users.
