Speech Assistant AAC is a text-to-speech (TTS) application specifically created for individuals with speech impairments, such as those experiencing Aphasia, MND/ALS, Autism, Stroke, Cerebral Palsy, or other related conditions.

This application allows users to create categories and phrases that are represented on buttons. Using these buttons, you can formulate messages that can be displayed or voiced aloud (text-to-speech). Additionally, it offers the capability to type custom text using a keyboard.

Due to oral cancer treatments, I lost my ability to speak clearly. As a teacher, this has significantly disrupted my ability to speak to students and colleagues one on one. This app has been a huge help with communication professionally. It has also been extremely helpful with my frequent doctor and hospital visits and interpersonal communication in general. In fact, I had a doctor ask for the name of the app as he was impressed with its functionality and versatility. This app has been extremely helpful in many aspects of my life! My thumbs have gotten so fast with typing that I rival my three teenage daughter’s texting abilities! 😜. Although still slower than normal speaking conversation, it is faster and less cumbersome than writing messages out by hand. Thanks for developing this great app!

Love the app. I am non verbal so this app has become my voice. Love that I can save so many phrases and it is easy to learn. Do wish the setting to use only the iPhone/iPad speaker was easier to turn on. I need to go into settings, “speech, recordings and sounds” and scroll down to “always use built in speakers” to change every time I want to use to answer the phone and then back thru settings to set back to hear thru a speaker. Takes too long to keep changing. Should be one button on the main screen to do this. I also wish the auto correct was better. I seem to make many more errors on this app than I do on text, email or word documents. The app “guesses” are wildly wrong and often times non sensical. Like if I use the app at the drug store to get Percocet, the app corrects to “petticoat.” Also, it mispronounces certain words like invalid - meaning disabled - not in val id - meaning not valid. (Which ironically is how I often feel as a disabled person!)

Due to my ALS, I’ve been having issues speaking over the phone and/or people understanding me in person due my struggles with word pronunciation and the decline in my ability to speak due to ALS. This app is a great tool that allows me to communicate better over the phone & in person. Having the ability to text and the app speak for me, is a huge benefit! With the pre-programed phrases, words, and the ability to easily customize…I no longer need someone to accompany me on phone calls, or when going to the pharmacy, bank, store, or even just socializing with friends and family. I’m now able to communicate on my own with the assistance of this app on my smartphone.

This app is unique and well worth purchase to get backup and restore option. Great app especially for tablet. Larger keyboard makes composing easy. Backup option makes it easy to transfer changes between devices with email and restore function. I have app on phone and tablet. I noticed speech loss when using 4.2 Bluetooth devices. Thanks to email exchange with developer, we found that using Bluetooth 5 speakers stopped loss and all words and phrases are spoken. Thanks Ton.

Because of a genetic dysfunction, among many physical losses as I get older my speech has become a victim to it. This app is absolutely on the right path to become what people like me need in order to still communicate effectively, without feeling helpless in trying to express what we need/want/desire. It was okay on my phone & didn't work on my old tablet, so I bought a tablet expressly to use this app and I am loving it so far. I barely have used it, but bought it because I believe in it.
