I want to check in and get my boarding position

Online check-in begins 24 hours prior to departure. If you purchased EarlyBird Check-In®, your boarding position will be reserved for you. That said, in order to pass through the security checkpoint, you will need to retrieve your boarding pass online or at the airport at your convenience as early as 24 hours prior to scheduled departure.

To locate your confirmation number:

Any upcoming reservations associated with your Rapid Rewards® account will appear when you log in to your account via the following platforms:

desktop - Under “My upcoming trips”

Southwest app - At the top of the screen

mobile website - Under “My Trips”

The confirmation number for an upcoming reservation is displayed in green font when you click in to the reservation.

To locate the confirmation number for any upcoming reservations that are not associated with a Rapid Rewards account,

- Search your inbox for emails from southwestairlines@ifly.southwest.com

- Look for an email with a subject starting with “You’re going to...”

- The confirmation number is in the subject line of the email and in the body of the email in green font.

I want to change or cancel my flight

Most flights can be changed or canceled through our website or the Southwest app without needing to call.

Look for the Manage Reservations option on our website or app, pull up your reservation, and then tap or click either the Change or Cancel option.

To change or cancel a flight for a specific traveler on a reservation with two or more travelers, you must first divide the reservation. After you divide the reservation, you will be able to change or cancel the reservation that needs updating. In most cases, you can divide your reservation or change the number of people flying online without needing to call. Once completed, you will receive an email with a new confirmation number for the Customer(s) divided off the original reservation.

Companion Pass Reservations

You can change a flight that is linked to a Companion's flight by following these steps:

1. Cancel the linked Companion's flight

2. Change your flight to the date/time/destination you want

3. Rebook the Companion's flight

If you have already cancelled the Companion's reservation and still can't make changes to your flight, we might be experiencing a delay.
