Origin of the name
Sohu brand originated from the Internet
Search - summarizes the earliest origin of China's Internet
Fox - is full of spirituality and vitality
On November 1, 1995, Dr. Zhang Chaoyang returned to China from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States. In August of the following year, he obtained angel investment and founded Sohu's predecessor "Aitexin Information Technology Co., Ltd." and established the Aitexin website, part of which was classified search, called "Aitexin Compass". Because it is related to search, combined with the traditional Chinese culture "zhihuzheya", it was renamed "Souhu". During the second round of financing, Aitexin determined that Sohu business would be the focus of future development. Considering that foxes symbolize agility, flexibility and intelligence in both the world and Chinese culture, and these qualities also meet the characteristics of search engine services, "Souhu" was changed to "Sohu" in November 1997. In February 1998, Aitexin was officially renamed Sohu Company, and the Sohu brand was officially born. In October, the domain name SOHOO.COM was changed to SOHU.COM. "Go out and rely on maps, go online and find Sohu", Sohu thus opened the magical door to the Internet world for Chinese netizens.
To this day, Sohu has always taken it as its mission to meet users' Internet needs and experience, and has grown into a leader in China's Internet. Sohu has influenced 80% of Chinese netizens and has become their mainstream information media, life, entertainment and communication and interaction platform.
Sohu will make every effort to build a century-old Internet brand and strive to become a long-lasting, successful and great Internet company, providing the most reliable online life platform for the majority of netizens with all-round high-quality content services and advanced Internet products, making Sohu an indispensable part of the lives of Chinese people.
