Tips and Tricks
1. Start by revealing the face-down cards
The first priority should always be to uncover face-down cards. This opens up new moves and helps to see more options on the board. Make sure to clear columns from left to right, as that will often expose hidden cards faster.
2. Focus on empty spots
When you create an empty space (a column with no cards), you can only place a King there. So, always try to plan ahead and make empty spaces strategically so you can place a King in the right spot to maximize your next moves.
3. Don't just focus on big piles
While it's tempting to focus on big piles, sometimes it's better to work on smaller piles to expose face-down cards and unlock potential moves. Look for the cards that will give you the most options.
4. Use the deck wisely
The deck (or stockpile) is an essential part of your strategy. Donât rush through it. Instead, think carefully about when to draw from the deck. If youâre stuck, go back to the deck and see if a new card opens up an option. Use the deck to your advantage, and donât be afraid to replay moves if they donât work out.
5. Always prioritize moving Aces and Twos
Aces and Twos are key starting points. Try to get them into the foundation piles as soon as possible. This will give you a head start and help you clear out the tableau quicker.
6. Try to build sequences in alternating colors
In Solitaire, the goal is to create alternating color sequences in descending order (from King to Ace). Always try to work with this in mind, as building a sequence early can open up more moves and opportunities later on.
7. Plan ahead
In Solitaire, the best players plan multiple moves ahead. Think about whatâs in your tableau and how each move might affect your options for the next few turns. Sometimes moving a card to a different column can open up a chain of moves, so itâs worth thinking ahead before acting.
8. Use Undo Strategically
The "Undo" button is there for a reason! If you make a move and realize itâs not optimal, donât hesitate to undo and try a different sequence of moves. This can save you from getting stuck in a bad spot and help you learn from your mistakes.
9. Donât Overuse the Stockpile
The stockpile can be helpful, but donât use it every time you're stuck. Try to clear the tableau as much as possible before you start relying on the stockpile, because once youâve used it up, youâre stuck with whatâs left in your tableau.
