Guidelines for Online Media Reporting

Freedom of opinion, expression, and the press are human rights protected by the Pancasila Act, the 1945 Constitution, and the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The existence of online media in Indonesia also embodies freedom of opinion, expression, and the press.

The unique characteristics of online media necessitate the development of guidelines to ensure their professional management and the fulfillment of their functions, rights, and obligations in accordance with the Press Law No. 40 of 1999 and the Code of Journalism Ethics. To this end, the Press Council, in collaboration with news organizations, online media managers, and the public, has developed the following Guidelines for Online Media Reporting:
