Backstory

It was 23:59.December 31, 1999. Out of the gap between the two centuries, a"Storm" poured upwards into the sky. The next second, all the parties, neon signs, and late night buses faded away. The world returned to a strange old era. This young girl, the "Timekeeper," the only one immune to the Storm, has witnessed the beginnings and ends of countless eras. During her time travel, she makes friends with arcanists from different times and countries and then guides them ... to escape the "Storm."

Every era has its own symbolic city. For the 60s, it was London; while for the 20s, most would agree it was New York.At that time in the Big Apple, modern science was making the unthinkable into reality. The Ford Motor Company and broadcast radio spread the word across the world. Jazz music playing all night, people dancing the Charleston or on the way to the next party. No one could say no to this carnival.

Anything seemed possible in the 60s. Pop art and the hippie movement rose in popularity among the nation's youth, and London became the Capital of Cool. More importantly, this era witnessed the rise of Pirate Radio and rock music.

This may sound like an odd tale: when the first drop of rain reached the sky, bizarre changes would happen to people. From the pop art and the bold colors in the 60s, to the platinum and the jazz in the 20s ... As the character of each era changed, so did the corresponding syndrome on people. These changes were like an illusion, or the mirage of their time.

Over the course of thousands of years, SPDM has adopted countless homeless arcanist children and provided them with systematic arcanum training. Most of its graduates are seen as role models and sent to work in international organizations, such as the St. Pavlov Foundation, Zeno Academy, etc.No matter where they are, the children who grew up in gray and white uniforms have never forgotten their motto and principle: "For the welfare and peace of mankind."

Between all things lies causality, within Ouroboros loops the world. After multiple industrial revolutions, the LSCC has risen to fame and grown into the largest R&D organization in the world by virtue of their cutting-edge technology and understanding history's lessons. They are committed to bringing forth a fourth industrial revolution by combining scientifc technology with arcane skill. Since the advent of the first "Storm," the LSCC has enshrined the law of causality as their core theory. Now they search for the reason behind the reversal of time through their algorithms.

Reverse: 1999

The windows in the suitcase often show strange views within. However, one remains unchanging; the lake and the broken spinning wheel always remain the same.Walk to the spinning wheel on the flowing water of time and spin it to summon arcanists.

A dark purple suitcase with a diamond check pattern. It can be unlocked by a relatively simple incantation and leads to an implausibly spacious residence. There are countless doors and windows inside, each containing a different view. Since it can protect the features of different times from the erosion of the "Storm," one may anticipate that many arcanists will find their place here in the future.

Reverse: 1999 Cheats and Tips

Afflatus system

Afflatus is basically the game's terminology for different elements that you normally see in RPGs (fire, water, wind, etc). The game has six Afflatus types in Reverse: 1999. As you can see in the diagram below, the four main ones form the "wheel" where one afflatus is strong over the other and weak against another. The other two afflatus are just plain effective against each other. The stronger afflatus will deal 30% more damage against the weaker one. The damage from the same, unrelated or weaker afflatus will be the same. (The weaker afflatus won't suffer any damage penalty) Strategize around this mechanic since it will affect the flow of combat and your success rate.

AP System

During combat, the AP system will dictate the actions your characters can take. It is also tied to the number of characters on the field so if you have three characters (assist or reserve characters are not counted), then you'll have a full AP of 3. If one of your on-field characters gets knocked out and replaced by the reserved character, you'll still have 3 AP. However, once you are down to two characters, you'll only have 2 AP left, and with a single character, only 1 AP which will significantly limit the amount of attacks that you can do per turn. That's why it is really imperative to keep your party members alive at all times.

Incantation Star Level

Each character has three Incantations or abilities; two of those abilities have star levels, which will determine their damage output and if they'll have bonus effects activated. It will help you a lot when you know when to increase a star level since some incantations can be incredibly potent at 2-star or 3-star levels while some are fairly useful in their default 1-star levels.

You can raise an incantation's star level by "merging" it with the same copy and star level of the incantation as such:

1-star + 1-star = 2-star

2-star + 2-star = 3-star (max)

Merging cards manually will use 1 AP. However, no AP is used when a card is merged using a Tuning Skill or if they automatically fall into place when you're using incantations.

Reverse: 1999

Pre-combat Preparations

Before starting any stage, you'll get to a preparation screen where you can change your party, and rearrange them and their psychubes. It is very important to pay attention to whether the selected party is good for the upcoming battle. Pay attention to the recommended afflatus (elements) and try to deploy characters that are strong against the expected enemies on that stage. Stronger characters will have the appropriate tags under their portraits as shown in the screenshot below.

If you don't have recommended characters for the stage, at least try to use neutral ones and avoid characters that are weak against the upcoming enemies if you can help it. At the same time, you can freely swap the positions of the characters, their psychubes, and even level them up quickly as long as you have the resources.

Team Composition

We have already pointed out how important it is to keep your party alive throughout the battle. This is where team composition really matters. Normally, you need to have the following roles:

Damager - This is the character whose main role is to deal damage. Characters with incantations that focus on dishing out damage will normally have no other utility but they'll be exceptional for the role. (Examples: Lilya, Charlie, Centurion)

Sub DPS/ Control - This is a flexible position; any character that can deal reliable damage and offer some sort of utility like debuffing enemies, inflicting status effects, buffing allies, etc. (Examples: Bkornblume, Sonetto, Druvis III)

Healer/ Support - Finally, you need someone who can reliably heal the entire party. You don't need to rely on a character that can only heal; if a character has another utility outside of healing, the better. (Examples: Balloon Party, Dikke, Bunny Bunny)

You can rely on the character tags to identify their role to your party then examine their skills (including the incantation star levels) to further identify how their skills can complement your party.

Reverse: 1999

Psychubes and Daily Pneuma Analysis

Psychubes are special items that can be equipped to your characters to give them stat bonuses and other beneficial effects. Similar to characters, they can be leveled up and uncapped to improve their stat bonuses. 5-star Psychubes have Amplification effects as well that you can improve by "feeding" them with the same Psychube as material. You should also consider leveling up your psychubes regularly to get the most out of their benefits.

Since each character only needs to equip one psychube and they can be freely switched, you don't need that much to outfit your party. It is highly recommended to clear the Pneuma Analysis resource map daily since it doesn't cost Activity Cost (stamina) and you are limited to clearing it two times every 24 hours.

Wilderness (Camp) Mode

This is a separate camp or base mode where you can create structures that allow you to earn resources passively over time, as well as place characters to passively increase their Bond with you. This map also allows you to craft high-rarity materials using their low-rarity counterparts. It is highly recommended to build your islands until you exhaust all spaces. If you don't really care about the design, you can just slap all available pieces until you're not allowed to anymore. Adding islands and buildings increases your camp's Vigor which boosts the resource output and character capacity.

Comments

to whoever made this game an ad on my fyp for tiktok: i hate you and i love you. i hate you because now i’m gonna play this game forever, and i love you for the same reason. i’ve already spend 3 hours playing and haven’t made it through a dent of the games energy. i could play for so many more hours and not have to spend money, i love you i love you i LOVEEEE YOU! my god. oh my god. the developers?? ATE IT UP AND LEFT THE DINNER TABLE EARLY BECAUSE THERES NO FOOD LEFT!! the art design of each character: insane. there is SO MUCH detail in each design, and there’s SO MANY CHARACTERS. i’m sure we learn then down the line but its funny when you pull for them and they’re just… you’ll know when you play. but the dialogue, the voice actors (i play in japanese dub, it’s so good im cryin). AND THEN THEIR ATTACK? THEIR ULT? u gotta be kiddin me. i just sat here with my mouth agape. ur lying. and i’m the type of person that HATES turn based games, so when i found out how the gameplay was i was gonna delete it but wanted to try it to see how it ran, and wow. y’all changed my mind. i want to thank you! i know i sound crazy but i don’t even write reviews unless a game did that much impact in my opinion. to the creators: you care so much about the game you created and it shows in the way it breaths. i hope you’re all proud of yourself, because you deserve to be.

Pros; Great for decently busy people since you can start on breaks, go over the first couple chapters and once you get busy you can just finish the quick daily or event and save the story for later! You can listen to ur own music while playing. the characters are unique and i personally like how theres a lot of characters with brown and darker hair color as well as darker skinned characters. you dont need to use money to summon new characters and your characters will be strong enough with single summon. the game is fun, amazing story, amazing art and animation, and easy to start for newbies.
Cons; Costumes cost money. If you want multiple of the same character it will probably cost you money if not months of saving the bunnies. Building characters will be hard for you in the first couple of months. once you reach SSS in rank ull get bored of the game because your characters are too strong. stories might be hard to continue because it takes time to build characters when ur new. story are interesting but english is hard and its really depressing so if you only like happy stories then maybe skip. some event stories are not as interesting as the main story since they have similar plot.

The game is great at first, it has good designs, graphics, story and various development options. For example, if you run out of energy and can no longer continue with the main story, you can alternate it with the artificial sleepwalking event, which does not require energy, trying to improve your heroes each time. However, there are only 3 small things that should be improved: 1. The material crafting system. These should be materials that can be obtained in any of the battles in the main game and not from the events that accompany it, since that way it is more viable to obtain them even if it costs time and energy, but if they ask for materials that are only obtained in the events, these sooner or later. 2. The arcanist system, there are some arcanists that we will never use nor have we used even once in the game, but even if we don't want to, they usually improve their "portray", if there was some way to generate an event where certain heroes have to be used, This could allow players to make use of these arcanists and at the same time obtain achievements, materials, etc. instead of having them lag behind. 3. The replay system of the game should have skip in the battles x1 x2 x3 and x4, at the beginning it is fun to see what plays you made, but then it becomes boring and you just want to save time.

Story is good, voice acting is good, designs are great and not insanely fan servicey, design and aesthetic are unique. English is so good and different languages and accent. We have a female main protag! Most of the characters are viable even fours stars. Rate and gems are decently generous. But the grind is insane, don’t play this as your main game. After the first two weeks you have nothing to really do but daily’s and grinding for end game. No sweep, seriously can we have a sweep or at least increased the multiplier like 10x, replay kinda stuck. Why doesn’t it scale with character level and we have to redo it, why can’t we change the 4 slot as that character is literally there to bond grind. There is also no hard pity for 5 stars that we want. How about this method that is a win win. First include a selector where you select which 5 stars you want. Basically this is how it would work: every 20 pulls you are guaranteed a RANDOM 5 stars, if the first 5 stars isn’t the rate up character, the next 5 stars would be ONE of the rate up character, if the 5 star isn’t the one selected then you get your selected 5 star. It is a 60 hard pity for six stars you want and it will still earn the same money and be more fair.

One thing is for certain, this is no Honkai Star Rail levels of gameplay. Both are turn based but this is understandably slower with seemingly no auto-battle function for the exception of repeating battles. (Which plays your fastest recorded time over and over as a sped up playback to earn more resources.) This game is very heavily focused on narrative, with questionable age in character’s designs while others are absolute MOMMIES.
The characters have their own uniqueness to them and I find myself playing around with different characters. WARNING: Acquiring currency for the Gacha seems like a slow process, because of the dialogue and story, you may skip this, but may quickly find yourself lost as to what’s going on in the story, and not having much content to play if gone through too quickly. Some of the voices are reminiscent of using AI voices, which I hope is not the case. Pronunciation of words and delivery of sentences feel strange and disconjointed at times. I still find myself immersed in the immensely detailed story, though some emotions are lacking in dialogue for particularly heavy scenes. Anyways that’s all from me! Might even make a video covering it at Regashu on YT.

This game rocks! Spending money feels like a fun perk instead of a requirement. The battles are easy to grasp, but each character brings their own flair and adds depth to team-building. Just one small thing—the story can get a bit tangled. Fingers crossed it doesn't shift towards pay-to-win!
