Welcome to our TBZ Games and enjoy the experience of our Punjabi Wedding - North Indian Wedding Big Game.
Punjabis are known for their simplicity and love for fun. Their weddings are a reflection of their joyful spirit.
During this festive occasion, the wedding planner takes on the busiest role, striving to ensure everything is in order for a memorable day for the couple.
The Sangeet celebration is the highlight of a Punjabi wedding, filled with vibrant music and warm hospitality.
Extravagant Punjabi Weddings are beautifully adorned at the venue with planners, traditional songs, royal decorations, mouth-watering wedding cakes, photographers capturing every moment, thoughtful gifts, and families of both bride and groom dancing joyfully.
The bride is preoccupied with selecting her perfect outfits, footwear, and hairstyle to look stunning on her big day, while guests enjoy dancing and indulging in delightful dishes at the reception—creating an enchanting atmosphere.
Let’s explore the various Punjabi Wedding Rituals.
• Roka
The bride's family visits the groom's home to offer blessings and bring gifts such as fruits, clothing, cash, and sweets, known as shagun.
This Roka ceremony marks the official start of the bond between the two families, typically beginning with a small puja called Ardaas.
• Shagun and Chunni
The bride is adorned with a chunni and presented with jewelry, assisted by her mother and sister-in-law. Attendees congratulate the couple by sharing sweets with them.
• Sangeet
A sangeet event is hosted by the bride's family, who entertain guests with dholak drum performances and playful songs teasing the groom and his family.
• Mehendi
The significant function preceding the wedding involves decorating with beautiful henna (mehndi) tattoos. Mehndi artists visit the homes of both families to apply intricate designs on the female relatives' palms and the bride's hands and feet.
- Wedding Day Rituals
• Choora
On the wedding day, rituals commence at the bride's home with the Choora ceremony. The oldest maternal uncle and aunt play key roles in this tradition. Choora consists of a set of red and cream ivory bangles gifted by the bride's mama. She does not see them until she is prepared for marriage. Guests touch the choora, offering heartfelt wishes for the bride's future.
• Haldi
Vatna includes applying a comforting paste of turmeric powder and mustard oil over the bride's skin, carried out by her female friends and relatives to enhance her beauty on this special day.
• Sehrabandi
Similar to the bride's preparations, the groom is dressed in his wedding attire after the Vatna and Ghara Gharoli rituals are completed. Following this, his sister ties the sehra upon his head.
• Varmala
Upon entering the wedding hall, the groom is guided to a raised platform. At the auspicious mahurat, the bride also arrives and joins him on the stand, where they exchange the vermala.
- Post-wedding Rituals
• Vidaai or Doli
This is an emotional moment as the bride holds puffed rice in her hands and throws it over her shoulder without looking back toward her family.
• Mooh Dikhai
The mother-in-law presents numerous gifts and jewels to the new bride, while other elders bless her and offer additional gifts. Following this, the bride often returns to her parental home for a day with her husband, spending the first night together there.
• Reception
This lavish party is organized by the groom's family in honor of the newlyweds, filled with grandeur and joy. Guests gather to meet the couple and partake in the festivities.
