FAQ

Is my Kangaroo Indoor + Outdoor Camera waterproof?

The Kangaroo Indoor + Outdoor Camera has an Ingress Protection rating of 65.

An IP65 rating means that your device is fully protected from dust and can resist low-pressure water jets from every direction.

Please take note that being water-resistant does not mean that your device can be submerged in water.

How many plans do I need?

Cam Protect:

You can attach one Indoor + Outdoor Cam or other camera device you have (Doorbell Camera or Privacy Camera) to one Cam Protect Plan. If you'd like to add more cameras, you can either purchase another Cam Protect plan per device or upgrade to Complete Protect, which includes 3 slots for devices on the one plan.

Complete Protect:

You have up to 3 device slots with a Complete Protect plan, meaning you can add 3 devices to that plan.

What’s the difference between PPP and Cam Protect?

The main difference is that when paired with an Indoor + Outdoor Cam, you get to unlock a whole bunch of camera features that are not included with the device with a Basic plan. Some of those features are access to full length videos, Two-Way Audio, Person Detection, Zone Detection, and Sound Detection.

Do I need to get a plan?

You could use your Indoor + Outdoor Cam (or numerous devices) with a Basic Plan, which is free. However, by doing this, you will not be unlocking all of the features of the Indoor + Outdoor Cam and won't receive any theft or damage reimbursement (Cam Protect comes with $250 per camera and Complete Protect comes with $1000 per camera).

Some of those premium features are access to full length videos, Two-Way Audio, Person Detection, Zone Detection, and Sound Detection.

I got a bunch of emails from you saying one of my cameras is down. You even offered to send new batteries. I tried reaching out through the email address listed at the bottom of those messages. I also looked for other addresses but they all bounced back as undeliverable. Before, I would have given you a perfect rating. Not anymore.

Setting this up felt like a never-ending task. Finally finished, and an error message pops up saying "Something Went Wrong." After a long chat with support, it managed to work. But there’s a major issue. It doesn’t detect anyone leaving packages. Our porch is small, only three steps, but it requires someone to stand right in front of it to trigger the device. I moved it to the center of the glass door as advised, but that didn’t help. Plus, the photos show trees and leaves in bright red.

Push notifications used to be a hassle after updates. Now, everything works perfectly with the latest update. This app is so convenient and user-friendly.

Now the camera won't record anything. It's on, showing a live feed, but nothing saves. Paying for this subscription feels pointless. Every time something significant happens, it doesn't capture the crucial 10 minutes. It says "motion detected," but only records before and after the incident. This has happened multiple times. Half of the videos, especially during incidents, won’t even open. The playback is glitchy too. I sent emails to cancel the subscription, but no response yet.

At first, everything worked perfectly. Then came the last update, and suddenly no more push notifications. I attempted several troubleshooting sessions, but nothing resolved the issue. Now I want to switch back to the basic plan, but getting through to a representative is impossible. The phone lines are silent, and the chat feature feels non-existent. If someone finally responds, it’s always after I've gone offline. It's frustrating, so sadly, I can't recommend Kangaroo Security anymore.

It’s strange how some devices need to know your location during setup. You have a water and climate sensor from Kangaroo, and it asks for your location. They claim it helps connect to Wi-Fi, but that doesn’t make sense. Other smart devices connect without needing to know where you are. It feels intrusive, especially for a sensor like that. Your location seems irrelevant for simply connecting to Wi-Fi. It's frustrating when companies prioritize data collection over user privacy.

This doorbell really disappoints. The animated pictures? They’re not movies at all. So short and blurry! Hard to recognize anything. After it captures an image, the notification pops up. Then the app says "preparing photo." By the time it loads, the person has already rung five times. The moving pictures look awful. No live feed either. Just trash!

The doorbell rings with a nice tone when pressed. Unfortunately, that's where the good stuff ends. The camera takes forever to respond, making it impossible to catch the mailman in action. The picture quality looks like something from an ancient flip phone. The app user interface is appealing and looks great, but the hardware really needs improvement.
