Ghost face detector - Face tracking fun

Dear users!

During the examination of facial images (face tracking), it has been noted that conventional face tracking algorithms occasionally detect a face where none exists. Face contours briefly appear in areas of the frame devoid of any actual individual's image. Initially, I attributed this to an error in the algorithm. While this is true in many instances, there was an intriguing moment when I attempted to communicate with that ethereal outline of a face. I requested it to freeze, and remarkably, the contour remained visible. I then prompted it to open its mouth, and it complied. When I asked it to nod to the left, it nodded as well.... 

This could theoretically be dismissed as mere coincidence, yet it seems highly improbable. 

I felt compelled to share this observation with you. 

I have developed this program. 

It solely includes the facial tracking algorithm along with an additional service. 

Specifically: 

• Tracking faces while the camera is active. 

• Switching the camera from front-facing to selfie mode. 

• The capability to record video like a standard camera application, but allowing for the choice to record with or without the contour. 

• The ability to capture photos, offering an option with or without the contour.

• Reviewing captured videos or photos and searching for ghostly faces within them. Videos or photos can originate from this app or any other source.

• Sharing your discoveries with friends via the standard "Share" feature within the app.

• Receiving videos and photos from friends to analyze using the app.

In the Pro version:

• Selection of detector types:

- basic face detector;

- secondary face detector from the Dlib library;

- cat detector.

• Adjustment of sensitivity levels for all detector types;

• Configuration of how the face contour is displayed.

There are no connections to any servers (aside from Unity ADS), no sign-ins, and no undisclosed data transmissions. The application utilizes:

• the camera exclusively for capturing the tracked entity (Ghost or spirit);

• memory for storing and playing back photos and videos;

For those curious about the technologies and algorithms employed in the application, here they are:

Unity3D, openCV, cascade haar, dlib.

These technologies are widely used in many popular applications featuring face mask overlays.

Some limitations apply.

• The algorithm identifies faces primarily when looking straight into the camera or at an angle no greater than 20°. Thus, ghosts not facing the camera may go unnoticed.

• The algorithm utilizes significant CPU resources and may experience slowdowns with large recorded videos and photos. However, it continues to analyze each frame, albeit in slow motion.

Exercise patience, as finding ghostly faces may take some time.

!!! NO WAR!!!

While analyzing the face image (face tracking), it has been observed that standard face tracking algorithms sometimes find it where it is not. The contours of the face appear for a moment in places of the frame where there is no image of the person's face. I thought it was an algorithm error. And in many cases it is. BUT!!! Once I tried to talk to that ghostly outline of a face. I asked him to freeze. He froze, i.e. the contour ceased to disappear. Then I asked him to open his mouth. Contour opened his mouth. Asked to nod to the left, he nodded....  

Theoretically, it could be a coincidence, but it is very unlikely.

It contains only the algorithm of tracking a person's face and an additional service. 

Namely: 

* Face tracking during camera operation. 

* Switch camera from front to selfie. 

* The ability to record video, as in the standard camera program, but there is a choice to write with or without contour. 

* The ability to take photos, but there is a choice with or without contour.   

* View captured video or photo and search for Ghost faces in it. Videos or photos can be taken either by this app or by any other.   

* Share your findings with friends. By sending them from the app with the standard "Share" service. 

* Receive from friends their videos and photos and analyze them using the app.
