Embark on building your own soccer empire!

Begin by establishing a football club from scratch, commencing as a minuscule non-league team, and strive to ascend through seven divisions to reach the pinnacle.

Engage in hiring and dismissing managers, enhancing your stadium, navigating transfers, contracts, and sponsorship agreements... all the while ensuring both the fans and the bank manager are content.

The Football Chairman games have garnered over three million downloads since their inception, clinching numerous app store accolades such as the Apple Editor’s “Best of 2016”, “Best of 2014”, and “Best of 2013”, in addition to Google Play’s “Best of 2015” recognition.

This complimentary version offers a comprehensive gaming experience with select "Pro" features disabled. Your tenure as chairman spans 30 seasons before retirement beckons - can you achieve greatness before then?

Five Tips for Success In Football Chairman

We often get contacted by users who are either new to the game and need some help, or current users who have just seen their team go bust and want to know where they went wrong.

These five tips below should hopefully give you a good starting point for a long and successful Football Chairman career!

1, Think long-term

One of Football Chairman’s big attractions is the fact that seasons can be completed in just 15-20 minutes, making it the ideal game to pass a few idle minutes on your commute to work or school.

People normally play the game for hundreds, even thousands, of in-game seasons, so there’s no point taking a short-term approach.

In order to succeed you need to think ahead – try to work out a five-year plan for success. For instance if you want to invest in a good youth system it might take a few years to bear fruit… but stick to your plan, be patient, and hopefully your strategy will pay off.

2, Wheel and deal in the transfer market

The best way to keep your in-game bank manager happy is to master the art of wheeling and dealing in the transfer market. Buy players on the cheap (preferably free!) and if they’re under 25 years old, even better.

Then, when your players are just starting to get past their best (late 20s, early 30s) don’t be afraid to sell them on for a profit if a big bid comes in. The fans might not like losing star players, but if you can reinvest the transfer money wisely, you’ll quickly get the supporters back onside.

But although it’s good to snap up some bargains in the transfer market, don’t let your squad size or wage budget spiral out of control. There’s no point in paying a whole load of players to sit in the reserves and do nothing.

3, Don’t overstretch yourself

It can be really tempting to blow a load of money on a big new stand, top-notch training facilities or an expensive youth setup. But don’t try to push your club too fast – there’s no point having a huge expensive stadium if you don’t have enough fans to fill it.

Likewise, there’s no point building the world’s best youth academy or training complex if your team is still in the lower divisions. Try to develop your club slowly and steadily, in line with each division, rather than jumping ahead with expensive developments.

4, Appoint the best manager you can

Some people try to save money by appointing a cheaper manager – but that’s a false economy.

A cheaper, poorer manager will need better players in order to succeed. So you’ll end up spending more money on transfers, and if results start to go wrong, the fans will start to desert you and the gate receipts will drop.

And when the pressure from the fans becomes overwhelming, you’ll need to give him a pay-off in order to sack him.

On the flipside, a good manager will get more from your players, leading to over-achievement on the field, better results, bigger crowds, and ultimately more money in the bank.

If he’s really good, he might get poached by a bigger club – leaving you with compensation in the bank to find an even better replacement!

5, Above all… remember you’re the Chairman, not the Manager

It might sound obvious but the one thing that causes people the most problems is that they try to play the game as though they are the manager of the club, not the chairman.

In a traditional football management sim, results are all that matter. Fail on the pitch and you’ll be sacked. But in Football Chairman, there’s an even bigger pitfall – your club’s financial security.

Although everyone wants to fill their trophy cabinet, keeping your bank account full is actually more important. If you focus on making sure your club stays out of its overdraft, then you’ll have a sound platform for success on the pitch.

Sometimes as chairman you might have to make decisions that you wouldn’t have chosen to make in a football management game – for instance selling a star player, or investing in the stadium instead of buying that new goalkeeper.

But find a solution to those dilemmas and you’ll be a success as a chairman.

Good luck, you'll need it!

Help/FAQs

Can I continue a career from the free app in the Pro version of the game?

Yes, you can continue your career from the free app by saving it to our servers and then loading it up in the Pro app.

1. From the main summary screen on the free app, click the 'Spanner' icon in the top right corner

2. Enter an email and password and save your game into one of the available slots

3. From the main summary screen of the Pro app, click the 'Spanner' icon in the top right corner

4. Enter the same email and password as before, then choose 'Load Game' and find the game you saved previously.

Can I save the game on one device and then load it to play on a different device?

Yes, you can. Saved games are compatible between different devices, including from Android to iOS and vice-versa.

My saved games have gone missing!

If you saved the game on our servers then the saved game(s) will definitely still be there - the only reason they wouldn't show is if the email or password were spelt incorrectly either when you originally typed them or the second time round.

The most common reason for this happening is when people mis-type their original password without realising. If you've tried various combinations and still can't find your saved games, fill in our contact form (by clicking the "envelope" icon below) and we'll check the database for you.

I'm having trouble with the in-app purchases (iOS)

The first thing to check is whether in-app purchases are actually allowed on your device. To do this, go to Settings > General > Restrictions.

If there are no restrictions in place, then rebooting your phone often solves the problem. You may also need to sign out and back in to your iTunes account.

How do I exit the game? (Android)

Although the game disables your device's 'back' button, most Android devices have a 'Home' button somewhere that allows you to return to your main phone screen. Alternatively your device may also have a 'task manager' button that enables you to switch between apps.

Oh, I really enjoy the game setup, it's so captivating! But, it's quite challenging. It's tough to keep your finances in check as you can easily run into money troubles. I hope the developers can make it a bit easier because the game is just too addictive. Additionally, it would be great if they could offer alternative payment options for the Pro version. Not everyone has a card to make payments, like myself. I have the money but I don't have a way to pay for the game.

This game is so awesome! I can't stop playing it. You should add a gameplay update to make it even more engaging. It would be really cool to see the players in action instead of just showing goals and game news. And how about adding player vs player functionality? This game is too good not to have these features.

This football management game is okay but it becomes too simple once you understand how to handle the finances. It would be great if there were some improvements to make the game more interesting. Currently, there isn't much involvement with the management aspect. Having a big squad doesn't seem beneficial as backup players don't get to play often and their worth decreases. It would also be nice to have access to the entire player market instead of just being presented with random transfer suggestions so that we can actively pursue certain players.

So basically, in the game, you're always competing by spending money on promotions. There aren't many ways for your team to improve other than replacing and purchasing new items, even staff. This seems reasonable from a business point of view, but it gets frustrating when you keep losing despite having the best traits and a perfect manager. The negotiation system is crucial because there's no second chance; it's do or die. Also, the challenge lies in managing your weekly expenses. To stay ahead of the game, you have to go beyond just covering regular wages.

I rediscovered this awesome game that I played a few years back. I returned to it recently, and surprisingly, I'm having even more fun than I did before! It's really impressive considering I'm not even a football fan; I prefer F1. But this game is so engaging that it has captured my interest once again. I'm currently in my first season, where my goal is to finish 12th. However, I've exceeded expectations and am currently sitting in 6th place!

I really like how challenging it is to manage the finances and bring in top players. If only there were more options for negotiating instead of having to guess what to do when signing a player or negotiating contracts.

You know, I used to play the Pro version and really liked it. Unfortunately, when I switched phones, I lost it. But now, I've started playing FC again. My goal is to get my team into the Football League before the free period ends, and I've managed to do that! It's still a fun game overall. However, some of the signings proposed by the manager make no sense. It makes me mad when I turn them down. Why would I spend a lot of money on another defender when I already have four? That aspect of the game seems silly and flawed to me.
