Characters
Each hero has 3 unique spells, of which only the 1st one is unlocked at game start and the rest have to be purchased. The entire game revolves around interesting tradeoffs, the optimal choice is often not obvious. Hero classes are as follows (only 1 of each can be picked in each game):
Mutant (Ultralisk)
620 HP, 42+4 damage, 3 armour
T1 spell: Lets you hide in a cocoon and heal 150 HP
T2 spell: You steal a bunch of enemy T1 units
T3 spell: Turns stolen units into guardians with 13 shots before they expire
Passive ability: Summons a guardian with 8 shots doing 120 damage while in cocoon
Strength: Undetermined, requires more testing
Difficulty: Medium, relies heavily on the T2/T3 combo
DPS: 66,67+6,35*upg - armour*1,59
Chest range: Melee
Summary: Stats are mediocre, can clear a large number of enemies safely when heavily clustered
Barbarian (Firebat)
1800 HP, 22+4 damage, 0 armour
T1 spell: Gives 8 BC hits for 150 damage each, also hits you or an ally for 150
T2 spell: Summons 18 wraiths for 12-15 seconds doing 54 damage each, also summons 3 dark templars that deal 180 damage to you or team mates for 12 seconds
T3 spell: Makes an ally temporarily invincible, deals a lot of damage to you or another ally
Passive ability: Summons 4 ghosts doing 45+7 damage for 20 seconds, if you die to your own spells
Strength: 4/5 for 5p games, 5/5 for 2p games
Difficulty: High for 5p games, Medium for 2p games
DPS: 47,62+8,66*upg - armour*4,32 + SPLASH (concussive damage)
Chest range: Medium air with T2
Summary: Does massive damage with both attack and spells, disrupts yourself and allies, weak against Goliath and Archon
Time Mage (SCV)
800 HP, 58+0 damage, 1 armour
T1 spell: 1-4 tanks doing 1x 200 damage
T2 spell: For 1 minute, 7 hydras are summoned every 2/4/6/8 seconds (random) and shoot twice at 34+4 damage
T3 spell: Archons, carriers and lurkers do tons of damage for 10/20/30 seconds (random)
Strength: 4/5
Difficulty: Medium
DPS: 62,77+0*upg - armour*1,08
Chest range: Long ranged with T1
Summary: Only does significant damage with spells, randomness sometimes screws you over, excellent at clearing swarmed levels, weak against Ghost and Dark Templar
Monk (Zergling)
480 HP, 18+2 damage, 3 armour
T1 spell: Full heal of own character
T2 spell: Summons 27 zerglings for 15 seconds doing 9+3 damage
T3 spell: Converts nearby green (buffed) enemies to tan (normal) enemies
Passive ability: Makes nearby enemies focus their attacks on you
Strength: 4/5 for 5p game, 5/5 for 2p game
Difficulty: Low
DPS: 71,43+7,94*upg - armour*3,97
Chest range: Short air with T2
Summary: Excellent newbie character with strong damage against most foes, T2 spell is great, but the zerglings often run around doing nothing and the spell can fizzle if you summon them above an obstacle
Cleric (High Templar)
620 HP, 43+3 damage, 0 armour
T1 spell: Heal all up to 279 HP and gives 1x Defensive Matrix
T2 spell: Summons an observer, and a scout doing 10x 86 damage
T3 spell: Fully heals a team mate, or lets you storm a bunch

Strength: 5/5
Difficulty: Medium, have to heal/storm/matrix all the time
DPS: 34,13+2,38*upg - armour*0,79
Chest range: Short air with T2
Summary: Healing makes Cleric almost mandatory in a 5p game but does little damage, storm is mainy good vs Archon or in a 2p game
Assassin (Kerrigan ghost)
800 HP, 40+4 damage, 0 armour
T1 spell: Summon a carrier for 10 seconds doing 48 damage per hit, 6-8 hits total
T2 spell: Summon 4 ghosts doing 50+3 damage for 15 seconds
T3 spell: Extends your T2 spell permanently by 2 seconds (max 40 seconds total)

Strength: 4/5 if you spam T3 spell early
Difficulty: Medium
DPS: 43,29+4,33*upg - armour*1,08 (concussive damage)
Extra DPS from permanent T2 spell: 162,34+9,74 - armour/3,24
Chest range: Short air with T1
Summary: Very high steady DPS once T2 spell is maxed except against Goliath, your extra ghosts stay on the field after dying, letting you win a round even if everybody dies
Rogue (Dark Templar)
750 HP, 60+12 damage, 2 armour, 4 shield and 150 shield armour
T1 spell: Blink, teleports you about one full screen
T2 spell: Clones your rogue once and spawns another clone each time you make a kill, they do 64+11 damage, spell lasts 12 seconds and gives around 18 strikes
T3 spell: Summons 22 drones doing 110+0 damage, spell lasts 8 seconds and gives around 16 shots (they're cluttered)
Passive ability: Activates your shield and recharges it every 2 seconds
Strength: 5/5 in 5p games, 3/5 in 2p games as you don't need that much damage
Difficulty: Low
DPS: 47,62+9,52*upg - armour*0,79
Chest range: Unlimited with T1
Summary: Also an excellent newbie choice, your shield gives you a lot of resilience, your T2 spell is easy to use and you do a lot of damage, strong against bosses
Cavalier (Vulture)
1000 HP, 40+5 damage, 2 armour
T1 spell: Plant 2 vulture mines doing 111 damage
T2 spell: Summon 9 vultures doing 6+3 damage for 20-25 seconds

Strength: 2/5
Difficulty: High
DPS: 31,75+3,97*upg - armour*0,79 (concussive damage)
Chest range: Short ranged
Good vulture micro matters little on later levels that are swamped, all spells are mediocre compared to those of other characters, can't heal and has weak DPS against all units
Trapper (Marine)
900 HP, 20+2 damage, 2 armour
T1 spell: Summons a Dark Archon which can cast Maelstrom twice (DAs expire after 6 nrg are regained)
T2 spell: Sets a trap which triggers 3x3 lurker shots doing 61 splash damage, cannot be cast with enemies nearby
T3 spell: Summons 6 marines every 3 seconds (36 marines total) doing 7+2 damage, expires after 20 seconds
Passive ability: T1 summons an extra Dark Archon
Strength: 5/5 vs Ghost + DT/Archon, 4/5 vs Ghost + Goliath, 3/5 vs DT + Goliath/Archon, 2/5 vs Goliath/Archon
Difficulty: High
DPS: 63,49+6,35*upg - armour*3,17
Chest range: Short ranged
Summary: All 3 spells are great but also very micro heavy, hard to keep up at higher than standard speed
Cultist (Hydralisk)
1040 HP, 34+4 damage, 3 armour
T1 spell: Cancels enemy shields on nearby units for 10 seconds
T2 spell: Summons 35 scouts for 7 seconds doing 33 damage each
T3 spell: Party invincibility for 15 seconds
Passive ability: Gain one mana per 3 kills
Strength: Undetermined
Difficulty: Low
DPS: 53,97+6,35 - armour*1,59 (explosive damage)
Chest range: Medium air with T2
Summary: T1 and T2 spells are not great, T3 can be a game breaker if you combine it with Manawell and Dreadlord (But Paladin + Shield/Taunt works better for that)
Paladin (Zealot)
1800 HP, 50+4 damage, 3 armour
T1 spell: Shields maximized constantly for 10 seconds
T2 spell: Makes all units target you for 25 seconds
T3 spell: Summons a devourer which destroys all units it touches for 23 seconds
Passive ability: When casting T2 spell, also summon 3 scouts for 24 seconds doing 86 damage (around 3x 20 shots)
Strength: 5/5
Difficulty: Medium,
DPS: 54,11+4,33*upg - armour*2,16* Combo of T1 and T2 keeps most of the party safe, can keep it running for 20 seconds per minute at full mana regeneration and does nice bonus damage with scouts in the meantime* T3 is by far the best way to kill enemy bosses* DPS is mediocre, especially against armoured enemies, consider running it as a pure tank from the mid game
Alchemist (Dragoon)
980 HP, 57+7 damage, 2 armourT1/1 spell: 9 tanks doing 1x 72 damage and reavers doing ? damageT1/2 spell: Shields set to 100T1/3 spell: 3x stasisT2/2 spell: 5x webT2/3 spell: Tons of damageT3/3 spell: Revive at full health when you diePassive ability: Restore 45 mana if you cast all 6 spellsStrength: 5/5Difficulty: Very highDPS: 45,24+5,56*upg - armour*0,79* Incredibly complicated* Can't heal, but heals itself just fine
