How to create a sound pack?

In all our applications, we give you sound packs we create ourselves in our studio or in collaboration with producers. Such sound packs are called 'library sound packs'.

In the Drum Pads 24 app, you can create your own sound pack by combining our and your sounds or recording something from a microphone. Such sound packs are called 'custom sound packs'. Creating custom sound packs is possible using the built-in feature called Project Editor.

How to create a sound pack with the Project Editor?

To start creating a new sound pack, open the Project Editor:

If you have an Android device: click the floating button '+' in a yellow circle on the 'Sounds' screen, enter the sound pack name and click the 'Create' button.

If you have an Apple device there are 2 ways to create a new sound pack:

Open the 'My' tab, choose the 'Sound Packs' option,  click the 'Create Sound Pack' button, enter the sound pack name and click the 'Create' button.

You can import a sound from any app directly to the Drum Pads 24 app. Not all apps support this feature, it depends on the app itself, we don't control it. Let's say you have the Files app with connected Google Drive, Dropbox, or iCloud (read how to connect them here). If you have any audio files in your Google Drive, Dropbox, or iCloud then you can open the Files app, find the audio file and click the 'Share' option for it. There will be a list of several apps. If it's the first time you want to share sounds to Drum Pads 24 then you will find the 'Open in Drum Pads 24' option in the 'Suggestions' sections. You can click the 'Edit' button in the right top corner and click the green '+' sign on the left side of the 'Open in Drum Pads 24' option. Click the 'Done' button. Now every app that supports sharing to Drum Pads 24 will show you this option. Click the 'Open in Drum Pads 24' app option, it will open the Drum Pads 24 app with the Pad Editor screen where the sounds you've chosen will be added.

Tip: when creating a new sound pack you need to save it as early as possible so that the sound pack has been saved for sure. After manually saving the custom sound pack for the first time, all further changes will be saved automatically.

How to edit a sound pack with the Project Editor?

There are 2 ways to open a sound pack in the Pad Editor:

If you have an Android device:

Open any sound pack on the screen with pads, click the Pad Editor button in the upper panel

Open the 'Sounds' screen, choose the 'My' tab, click the '...' button and choose the 'Edit' option.

If you have an Apple device:

Open any custom sound pack on the screen with pads, click the Pad Editor button in the upper panel. Please note, the Pad Editor button is displayed only for the custom sound packs (for the sound packs which are created by a user or downloaded from the Feed).

Open the 'My' tab, choose the 'Sound Packs' option, click the '...' button in the top right corner of a sound pack cover you want to edit, and choose the 'Edit' option.

What sounds can I use to create my sound pack with Project Editor?

There are several different sources of sounds in the Pad Editor:

Drum Pads 24 Sound Packs: you can create your own sound packs using sounds from already downloaded library sound packs.

Drum Pads 24 Records: you can record something using any downloaded sound pack and then use this recording as a sample for your sound pack (please, take note of the limits applied to the length of the file described in the technical requirements section in this document).

My Sound Packs: you can use sounds from other sound packs that are available locally on your device. It can be sound packs you've created or sound packs you've downloaded from the Feed.

Microphone recording: you can record new sounds using a device microphone (please, take note of the limits applied to the length of the file described in the technical requirements section in this document).

Files: this option allows you to use almost any sound from anywhere. All you have to do is to download some sounds to your device or to some cloud storage like Google Drive, Dropbox, etc (please, take note of the limits applied to the length of the file described in the technical requirements section in this document).

Using the Files option is the most powerful feature.

If you have an Android device you can use any File Manager app to add audio files to your device.

If you have an Apple device you can the Files app by Apple to add audio files to your device. The Files app is an aggregator application of cloud storage and files of all applications on the device. The Files app brings all of your files together. You can connect Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud to it. So you can upload audio files to your Google Drive, connect Google Drive to the Files app and then use any audio files from your Google Drive in the Pad Editor to create your sound pack.

What are the technical requirements for the audio files for Project Editor?

Pad Editor supports audio files in the following formats:

*.mp3

*.wav (Android version strictly requires 44100 kHz, 16bit, stereo)

Due to technical reasons, Android devices have a 5-second limitation for a certain audio file

Apple devices have a 15-second limitation for a certain audio file

Other formats are not supported. Even if the file with a different format is added to the Pad Editor, it can lead to the incorrect playback of such sounds.

How to add an image cover to my sound pack?

There are several options to edit the sound pack's cover:

As soon as a sound pack is saved for the first time you will see a screen where you can set a cover for it. Click on the cover, give the app permissions to access your Image Gallery or Photo Library on your device, and choose any image to be used as a sound pack cover.

For the already created sound pack in the list of your custom sound packs, you can click the 3 dots icon '...' and choose the 'Edit cover' option.

When you are sharing your sound pack to the Feed you can choose a cover for the sound pack as well.

How to share my sound pack?

All our users can create posts in the Feed and attach their sound packs to such posts. Links to such posts can be shared with anyone even if they don't have the app. To open the provided link and use the sound pack they will need to install the app. All links look like https://dp24.me/h87K6jiylS

To share the sound pack from the app:

Open the Feed tab and click the floating button '+' in a yellow circle.

Choose the sound pack from the previously created sound packs on your device.

Add some text for the post, for example, share your thoughts about this sound pack or tell what challenges you faced when creating this sound pack. Choose a cover, add a video preview, and/or an audio preview. A video preview must be a link from Youtube. An audio preview is a record you've created with the sound pack in the app. A video preview and an audio preview are optional fields, but adding them can boost your post since it will be more interesting for others. Also, posts with a video preview are more likely to be featured in the Feed. As soon as all fields are set, click the 'Next' button.

After successful sharing, your post will appear in the Feed with the attached sound pack.

Click on the 3 dots icon '...' in the top right corner of the post and choose the Share option. The system will suggest you share the link with predefined text to some of your installed apps or you can copy the link and share it anywhere else.

How to delete my sound pack?

As soon as a new sound pack is created, its files are saved on your device only. When you share a sound pack to the Feed its files will be saved on our servers.

So if you delete a sound pack that was not shared to the Feed from your device, then the files will be deleted irretrievably and this action cannot be undone.

If you've shared a sound pack to the Feed then you can delete a sound pack from your device and later download this sound pack from your account since such a sound pack is saved on our servers.

If you have an Android device:

Open the Sound packs screen, choose the My tab.

Find the sound pack you want to delete, click the 3 dots icon '...' in the top right corner of the sound pack, choose the Delete option. Warning: if you haven't shared this sound pack to the Feed previously the files will be deleted irretrievably and cannot be restored. Confirm that you want to delete the sound pack.

If you have an Apple device:

Open the My tab and choose the Sound Packs option.

If you cannot delete the sound pack, make sure that it's not opened at this moment. If the sound pack is chosen as the current one, open another sound pack, and after that try to delete your sound pack again.

This Pads app stands out among the rest. The ability to customize personal pad setups is incredibly cool. Even the free version offers an impressive selection of downloadable preset soundpacks. It definitely exceeds what other free apps provide.

That app is fantastic! It really stands out. The only hiccup I’ve noticed is with the Bluetooth headphones. There’s a bit of a delay between hitting the pad and hearing the sound. It can be a little distracting. Other than that, everything feels solid!

Imagine having a powerful tool right at your fingertips. You can mix samples and sounds in various pitches without any hassle. Within just a few minutes, you could create an entire beat, song, or composition. It all depends on how long you want to dive into the recording process. This experience sparks an opportunity to sharpen rhythm skills or discover hidden musical talents. So dive in, and enjoy the journey of making music. Good luck!

This app is amazing, but it really disappoints me how it treats iOS and Android users differently. On iOS, you can play longer sounds on a pad, but on Android, there's just a five-second limit. This issue has been around for years, and it feels like nothing gets done about it. You keep releasing new songs, which is great, but please don't forget about your Android users. It can't be that difficult to fix. We deserve better support too!

Drum Pads 24 stands out as the best drum pad app available. Its responsiveness and agility make it a top choice on both the Play Store and probably the App Store too. The sample quality is unmatched, even when compared to paid apps. Free apps simply cannot compete in terms of sound fidelity. Download it now! You'll truly enjoy it!

This app is incredible! I've been using it for three years, and I still can't get enough. It's amazing how much better it is than any other drum pad app out there. Great job on this! Keep bringing in those sound packs because they are all fantastic!
