This application serves dual purposes: it functions as a flag quiz game and also as a flag creator or editor.
As a gaming experience, it takes the traditional flag quiz to the next level by requiring players not just to select a flag but to actually draw it themselves!
For each of the 193 recognized nations, you will need to select the appropriate stripes, shapes, symbols, and colors that closely match their official flags, including those that have been in use since 1980. If assistance is needed, hints will be available to facilitate gameplay. Additionally, if you encounter a flag but are uncertain about its country, you can illustrate it within this app to discover its origin.
Moreover, starting from version 12.0, the game has expanded to include flags not only of various countries but also of states from the U.S.A., Brazil, Germany, and more. In total, there are 425 flags to identify!
In terms of flag creation, users can craft their unique flags using preferred stripes, shapes, symbols, text, and colors, which can then be downloaded to their devices for sharing with friends or for personal use.
Challenge your knowledge of world flags, create your own flag collection, and enjoy your time playing Draw The Flag!
A Brilliant Fusion of Education and Creative Play
From the first time I sketched Japan’s crimson circle onto a white background, Draw The Flag completely redefined how I engage with global vexillology—transforming passive recognition into hands-on artistic discovery. This app masterfully blends two experiences: as a flag-drawing quiz, it challenges you to recreate 193 national banners stroke by stroke, choosing correct stripes, symbols, and shades under subtle time pressure. I’ll never forget the thrill of perfectly layering Mexico’s eagle-and-snake emblem or the humility of botching Nepal’s unique double-pennant shape (thank heavens for hints!). Unlike traditional quizzes, this tactile approach imprints flags into memory—I now recognize Seychelles’ radiating stripes instantly thanks to struggling with its gradients.
Yet the magic extends beyond quizzes. The flag creator studio became my canvas for imagination: I designed a minimalist constellation-themed banner for my book club, crafted a fusion flag for my multicultural neighborhood, and even recreated historic standards like Prussia’s black eagle. With tools for layering shapes, adding text, and tweaking palettes, it’s like having Adobe Illustrator distilled for pure vexillological joy. Exporting creations to share as wallpapers or social posts sparks endless conversations.
The recent expansion to 425 flags—covering U.S. states, German länder, and Brazilian territories—adds staggering depth. Need to identify that obscure Brazilian state flag? Draw its pattern and let the app decode it. Whether prepping for trivia night, bonding with kids over colorful creations, or just unwinding with meditative design, Draw The Flag proves that learning can be playful, and creativity can be educational. It’s not just an app; it’s a passport to the world’s visual heritage, one brushstroke at a time.
