President of Religious Affairs Erbaş spoke at the opening ceremony of the Diyanet Academy: "Our professors will be better equipped."
President of Religious Affairs Erbaş said, "Thanks to the Diyanet Academy, our professors will begin their duties with better pre-service training, and our in-service and specialized training will become stronger and more comprehensive."
President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş stated that thanks to the Diyanet Academy, our professors will begin their duties with better pre-service training, and that in-service and specialized training will become stronger and more comprehensive.
Erbaş attended the Diyanet Academy 2024-2025 Academic Year Opening Ceremony held at the Ankara Religious Higher Specialization Center.
Speaking there, Erbaş explained that thousands of graduates have been produced at 33 training centers to date, and that now over a thousand students are receiving education solely at religious higher specialization centers.
Erbaş said, "We also have approximately 2,114 religious officer candidates. I would like to express here how functional the Religious Affairs Academy has become with in-service training and how it has become an important center for our country, our organization, and the Islamic world."
Erbaş emphasized the significance of this day, noting that it marks the start of training at the Religious Affairs Academy's religious higher education centers, the retraining of suspended religious officials, and the opening of Quran education centers in Rize, Ankara, Istanbul, and Bursa.
Erbaş also emphasized that today is the start date for Quran courses for ages 4-6 and 7-10, and continued:
"Last year alone, approximately 250,000 of our children attended Quran courses for ages 4-6. Nearly 40,000 children between the ages of 7-10 attended Quran courses. This year, based on the promise I received from our muftis, we aim to increase the 7-10 age group to 100,000. We also aim to increase the 4-6 age group even further. I wish our children success in this regard. I pray to God for success for our teachers, their teachers, our muftis, and our administrators."
"As the Muslim world, we must ensure this unity and solidarity."
President of Religious Affairs Erbaş reminded us that 20 million students will start school today.
Erbaş, reminding that the Ministry of National Education will be teaching the first lesson on "Defense of the Homeland from Çanakkale to Gaza" in schools today, stated that work should be carried out to further advance the spirit of "Defense of the Homeland from Çanakkale to Gaza" for students at the Presidency of Religious Affairs, Quran courses, and all centers of the Religious Academy. Erbaş, emphasizing the profound message in the phrase "From Çanakkale to Gaza," said:
"This message tells us that we must stand up for our brothers and sisters. It draws attention to how innocent children, babies, children, and women are dying under the bombardment of murderers and oppressors, and it conveys the message that all Muslims must stand up for Gaza and Palestine. We must raise our youth and children with this message. Therefore, I am addressing all our teachers and Quran course instructors. Regardless of the age of your students, we must raise our children and our people with this awareness and consciousness. God commands all believers, all Muslims, to live in unity and solidarity. As all Muslims in our country, all living beings, and the entire Muslim world, we must ensure this unity and solidarity."
"It is very important for us that he has completed his pre-vocational requirements and started his duties."
Erbaş stated that the Presidency established specialized training centers to fill the gap at a time when institutions operating at the religious higher education level were not yet widespread.
Erbaş explained that the Diyanet Academy is the result of over 10 years of work and will further enhance its educational services. He said:
"Thanks to the Diyanet Academy, our professors will begin their duties with better pre-service training. Our in-service and specialized training will be stronger and more comprehensive. We graduated our first term as religious officer candidates. Now, our second term professors are receiving their training. It is very important for us that they prepare for the profession and complete their pre-service requirements before starting their duties. We are also very pleased with the feedback we have received from the field. This year, for the first time, 397 new colleagues are starting their training. 53 of them are women, 38 are in the International Theology Program (UİP), and we have international students. I especially congratulate these colleagues."
