How do you control Cox Homelife features?

Our Homelife smart home service is controlled through the Cox Panoramic Wifi app, which is necessary to view the HD camera or Video Doorbell and manage settings.  You can download the Panoramic Wifi app free from your Apple or Google Play app store.

What are the monitoring options of Cox Homelife?

The Cox Homelife smart home service is self-monitored.  Cox Homelife smart home is not professionally-monitored but gives customers the opportunity to keep an eye on their home.

What kind of smart home devices are available with Cox Homelife?

Our Homelife smart home service works with our HD cameras and Video Doorbell, which must be purchased separately. We’ve also partnered with select brands so you can also control popular smart home devices you may already own. View our full list of devices here.

How do the Cox Homelife camera features work and do they record video?

Cox Homelife cameras allow you to monitor your home anytime, from almost anywhere. Our Homelife cameras can be used indoors or outdoors and provide motion alerts. The cameras can also be viewed on your TV using the Voice Remote with your Contour TV or Contour Stream Player service. Up to 6 cameras can be purchased for our Homelife service (each video doorbell counts as 1 camera).

Continuous Video Recording (CVR) lets you record motion detection 24 hours a day and check recorded video footage from up to 10 days ago. CVR is included with Homelife smart home service.  CVR can be enabled on up to 4 cameras total.

Does the HD camera have two-way audio?

Yes, you can talk and listen through both the HD camera and Video Doorbell available with our Cox Homelife smart home service.

Does the Homelife Video Doorbell require existing doorbell wiring?

Yes, the Video Doorbell requires existing wiring with 16 -24 volts and cannot operate without power supplied by the doorbell wiring. The Video Doorbell will not work if the power is out, if internet is down or if the connection to wifi is lost.

Does Cox Homelife service require professional installation?

EasyConnect self-installation is available and recommended for our Cox Homelife smart home system. We'll guide you through the installation in the Panoramic Wifi app. Professional installation is also available if needed, for an additional charge.

The app runs smoothly when I manage to open it. Most of the time, though, I see a message about not having an internet connection. I know I’m connected because other apps work perfectly. It's frustrating to deal with that issue.

Over the past year, a frustrating problem emerged. Out of my six cameras, only two or three show up on my phone's app. The other three get stuck on "connecting to camera" and never connect. I can see all six on the touch panel at home, but not on my phone. Often, when I try to open the app, I receive a message about needing a Wi-Fi or cellular connection. I have five bars, so I'm definitely connected! Like many others facing this issue, my only solution is to uninstall and reinstall the app. This becomes especially annoying when I receive an alert about an emergency.

Setting up a rule for the door sensor turns into a hassle. Selecting "when this happens" works perfectly fine. The moment I try to set the "do this" action, it greys out completely. No options available, and the app sometimes locks up too. Push notifications are crucial for home security. Without them, what's the point? Cox is supposed to be our ally in the digital age, not a source of frustration. By the way, I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ running Android 10.

It worked great until the update. Now streaming live video from my camera is impossible. The app crashes every time I try to use it. I lowered my rating from two stars to one because I can’t give zero. It’s frustrating. After all the complaints about the live feed problems, Cox still hasn't made any fixes. They took something that was functioning perfectly and ruined it.

This app has been a part of my life for over a year. Suddenly, it refuses to open. After the latest update, everything changed. I try to log in, and it tells me I need an internet connection. My WiFi works fine, no airplane mode on my phone. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Still nothing. This situation needs immediate attention.

At first, I thought it was fantastic. It added so much to my experience. Recently, it turned into a disappointment. No photos, no activities, just a static image. Sure, I can turn the light on and off, but that’s it. The help feature feels pointless. No responses at all. Notifications stopped coming to my email for no reason. It feels like the service is nearing its end. Fast forward to November 2020. No benefits from this service anymore. Most of the time, it simply doesn’t work. Can’t sign in; it keeps saying the password is wrong. No reset option. No photos or videos come through. This service feels unreliable. If someone were to approach my door or even steal something, I’d be completely in the dark.

This app really misses the mark. Every time I try to check my video or live feed, it just crashes. The moment I click on a camera, it stops working. I wish I could give it a lower rating than one star, but that's all I can do. I'm seriously considering ditching this home system for something more reliable. One of my cameras was replaced because it wasn't functioning, and guess what? It's still not working. It's sitting right at my front door, and I’ve paid for it. This situation is so frustrating. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear of this app.
