Blobsbuster is a gooey experience about collecting globules of water and becoming the biggest puddle of slime on the map. You can get the basics pretty quickly, but there are layers to the game that might leave you slightly confounded if they don’t click into place straight away.

Which is why we decided it was high time to write this guide. We’ve played a good few hours of Blobsbuster and discovered what we think are the strategies you need to take your skills to the next level. Follow these suggestions and you’ll be the monarch of the bombs in no time at all.

Check the numbers

The arrows around the edges of the screen don’t just show you where the other boobs are, they also tell you how powerful they are. If the number displayed is higher than your current size, you should avoid it – the only outcome when you meet will be you being devoured. Instead chase the smaller numbers to increase your size safely.

Always be collecting

Whenever you see blobs of liquid you should try and grab them. The more you can add to your form, the more dangerous you’re going to be. Focus on catching the other blobs, but never pass up an opportunity to grow in size – you’ll be thankful for it as the level goes on.

Best upgrades

You should be upgrading reasonably evenly – all three stats come in really handy, and can help you get the edge on the other blobs. A slight focus on adding starting size is your best bet, then spreading your cash around the others to balance out speed and magnetism.

Watch out for tight spaces

You can actually get stuck in small spaces if you’re not careful. It’s not a regular occurrence, but it should always be in the back of your mind that getting jammed somewhere is a terrible idea. Look for the path of least resistance and if you do see a trapped blob, destroy them.

Wait to reconnect

Sometimes you’re going to leave parts of yourself behind while you’re moving around. Obviously this isn’t ideal and can leave you slightly vulnerable. Take a moment and let the stray blobs catch up so you’re back to your full strength. It’ll only take a second and put you in the best position to win.
