Problems

Dust Transactions

Problem scenarios:

    · Some people use Bitcoin for receiving compensations for incredibly small workloads (e.g. clicking on an ad).

    · Some services misuse transactions as a messaging system (e.g. lost bets).

You should know that each payment under 0.01 BTC requires a fee of at least 0.0005 BTC. That means if you are receiving a payment of 0.0005 BTC or below, you will not be able to economically spend it!

Now, what about aggregating several 0.0005 BTC payments in one transaction? For example, you could spend 0.0005 BTC * 4 = 0.002 BTC. Problem here: The fee is 0.0005 per kilobyte, and aggregating builds larger (in bytes) transactions. You can roughly aggregate 5 transactions with a 0.0005 BTC fee.

So, as a general rule of thumb:

You should refrain from receiving payments smaller than 0.0001 BTC. We call them dust.

Note that these numbers will change over time, as Bitcoin value rises and falls and fee rules get adapted. Until then however, dust just uses up precious memory, making everything slower than it should be. Or, in extreme cases, causes running out of memory.

Out of Memory

Some of you experience out of memory problems. This surfaces in seemingly random crashes of the app. In extreme cases it crashes always on launch.

One part of the problem is a small heap size. Even if your device got more RAM in total, Android limits the heap that can be used by an individual app. The limit can be as low as 32 MB for old devices or as high as 192 MB.

The more important part is your usage pattern. Bitcoin Wallet (and to some extent Bitcoin in general) works best with amounts of 0.01 BTC or larger and a little bit of balance between receiving and spending. If you never spend you will accumulate unspent transactions (more precisely: unspent outputs) that will clog up your RAM. If you spend, Bitcoin Wallet can garbage collect spent transactions after a while.

Note that you can spend to yourself. Just make sure to choose an amount that aggregates a number of transactions, without letting that number get too large. If it gets too large, you'll bump into another limit: the transaction size limit.

General rules:

    · Try have about one spend every 30-50 transactions.

    · Refrain from receiving dust transactions.

    · Refrain from receiving transactions that pay lots of recipients at once.

    · The above is especially true on cheap or aging phones.

So, I was trying to send $37 using this app, but then it showed me a message saying the payment wasn't started! Can you believe it? This app is really slow and just takes your money without doing anything. I need my money back, or else I'll have to contact my bank to file a claim. I already clicked on the option to report the issue, hoping for a quick resolution.

This online funding platform is great for making transactions. It's user-friendly and secure, so you don't have to worry about interruptions. However, keep in mind that recovering funds can be a tough and complex process if you lose access to your wallet.

Having a Bitcoin wallet is super convenient because you can easily manage your funds anywhere you go, and best of all, you have complete control over your money. The only downside is that they can be a bit expensive, especially when compared to software wallets. But regardless of the type of wallet you choose, it's crucial to always remember to keep your keys safe and secure! 😊

I've been using this wallet for years, and it has always served me well. However, I think the user experience for choosing fee calculations could use some improvement.

So here's the deal - you can't simply use a private key to access an existing wallet. Instead, you have to sweep the balance into a new wallet. And, about that update: the app owner mentioned that importing a private key is risky. Wanna know why?

So you know how I had some bitcoin sent to the first address on this app but it never arrived? Well, they agreed to credit it back to me, but now they are saying they can only send it to the original address I had. The thing is, I've already changed the address so now I'm stuck and can't access my bitcoin. Can someone please help me with this situation?
