The Bavarian Football Association (BFV) is the largest of the 21 DFB regional associations and the largest sports association organized within the Bavarian State Sports Association (BLSV). The BFV represents over 4,400 clubs with a total of over 1.6 million members.
The areas of responsibility of the Bavarian Football Association (BFV) are diverse:
Organization of Amateur Football: It organizes the entire amateur football operations in Bavaria, involving over 24,000 teams across all age classes, ranging from the C - class up to the Regionalliga Bayern. On a full matchday weekend, around 13,000 games take place. This also includes staffing almost all games with referees and linesmen, as well as providing their training.
Professional Talent Development: To foster talent, the BFV operates an extensive network consisting of 64 talent centers and 16 BFV youth performance centers throughout Bavaria.
Coach Training: Optimal talent development is only possible with well - trained coaches. The BFV offers a wide range of coaching courses – for grassroots football as well as for high - performance football, for adult football and for youth football. There are also specialized courses such as conditioning coach training, and a broad training program for coaches, trainers, supervisors, and mentors who do not wish to undergo official coaching training but still want to acquire basic knowledge for their roles in the club (e.g., the "Fit for Kids" training or the "DFB Mobile Visit").
Social Engagement: Through organized football, many socially relevant issues can be promoted (inclusion, fair play, environmental protection, anti - discrimination, prevention of violence and drug use, etc.). The BFV takes its social responsibility seriously by regularly initiating appropriate actions and campaigns, through which these issues are prominently addressed via the clubs and football operations. In addition, the BFV has established the donation - based BFV Social Foundation, which can provide financial assistance to members of the Bavarian football community who have fallen into distress through no fault of their own.
Child Protection: Football clubs should, and indeed must, be a safe place for children. Especially regarding the issue of "sexual coercion and/or abuse", the statistics are alarming – both in society at large and within the club environment. We raise awareness among the clubs about this important issue and provide support through guidelines, information, downloads, and competent contacts, enabling the clubs to offer the best possible protection for children.
Interest Representation: The Bavarian Football Association also safeguards the interests of Bavarian football clubs and represents them at the levels of the South German Football Association (SFV) and the German Football Association (DFB). The top priority is to strengthen the amateur base while maintaining the unity of professional and amateur football under the umbrella of the DFB. This also includes comprehensive public relations and publicity work.
Football Development: The BFV actively drives the development of (amateur) football. This includes both the organization of matches, for which it also channels the suggestions and wishes of club representatives into the relevant association committees, and the development of technical products that facilitate the work of clubs and their staff or offer them advantages, and which the clubs cannot develop on their own for financial reasons (e.g., the electronic match report, comprehensive live ticker, and comprehensive results service).
The territory of the Bavarian Football Association is structured into an association level and seven football districts, with a total of 22 football counties. In each football district, there is a district office with full - time staff and a large network of volunteers, known as BFV officials. The BFV headquarters is located in Munich. In total, around 100 full - time staff and nearly 850 volunteer staff at the BFV ensure that football in Bavaria keeps going and that the clubs are provided with the best possible support in their daily work.
