How to use the AutoResponder App?

Once you have installed and launched it, you will need to tap the Get started button and grant notification access to AutoResponder. This is crucial for the app to function as it needs this access to receive and send messages automatically. No need to worry - by default your messages are processed only locally on your device and will always stay private.

After granting notification access, you can now start using AutoResponder by creating a new rule with the + button at the bottom. In the rule creation screen, you will be prompted to define the triggers for the rule, such as specific keywords or phrases that, when received, will trigger an automatic reply. You can also set the app to reply to all messages received by tapping the All button.

Now the reply message field appears. Enter a message that should be sent as an automatic response to the previously specified trigger message. All other settings are optional.

Once you have set up your rule, you can save it. You will then be able to see a list of all your created AutoResponder rules. You can enable or disable them by clicking the circle on any rule. To delete a rule, swipe it to the left. If you want to enable or disable AutoResponder completely, use the switch at the top.

Make sure AutoResponder is enabled with the switch at the top. This is the case by default. The AutoResponder app will now automatically detect message notifications from the messenger app installed on your device (make sure that you didn't disable notifications in the messenger or on your device!), and will reply to them according to the rules you have set. Additionally, there is also a testing feature next to the switch at the top that allows you to simulate incoming messages and see how the app will respond. This will ensure that your rules are set correctly. Note that only one rule will be triggered at a time and the rule higher in the list has priority by default. Changing any general settings is usually not necessary and not recommended for your initial testing.

Does my device always have to be online for AutoResponder to work?

Yes, AutoResponder can only send and receive messages when your device is connected to the internet. This is a technical limitation.

However, if you are offline, this is not a problem, as AutoResponder will answer all pending messages the next time you connect.
