In this AFK Clicker Heroes RPG, gather a diverse team of champions. Send them on quests, explore perilous dungeons, and tackle seasonal challenges in this clicker game! As you progress, unlock additional Hero Characters, engage with new powerful Rings, acquire Pets with amazing skills, and secure permanent Artifact upgrades to make your next expedition slightly safer for your Almost Heroes team. Discover the ideal strategy to ensure continuous enjoyment in this action-packed idle adventure.

*** GATHER - BATTLE - IMPROVE ***

You have 17 absolute novices eager for your guidance to evolve into somewhat decent heroes. Create your idle heroes by selecting from a motley crew including your typical fodder knight, a blacksmith dwarf, a fire-loving pyromaniac, a sightless wizard, a bard concealed in a paper bag, a scheming goblin, a lovable grandmother, and even a disgruntled tree! These idle characters are ready to be empowered further!

If the challenge becomes overwhelming, simply restart your journey by prestiging! We're quite confident you’ll perform better next time around.

*** AFK CONFLICTS ***

The fun never stops! Your idle hero team battles, falls, revives, and continues to fight even when you're not around! The action is constant. Just return whenever you're ready and tap to claim their rewards. Your champions will keep battling endlessly while you strategize!

Eventually, with upgraded Artifacts, you can also automate their leveling process. You decide which enhancements will provide the best boost to tackle more formidable foes. After all, what would these Almost Heroes accomplish without your tactical input?

*** UNLOCK NEW GAME MODES ***

Maintain the momentum with your Almost Heroes as they unlock various gameplay modes for you to engage them in. While some Heroes are confronting mighty bosses in Adventure mode, put your strategic skills to the test in timed challenges and other battle formats! Additionally, there are weekly Seasons featuring difficult trials for only the most daring. Luckily, you can take companions like a sheep, an armadillo, and even a notably foolish pigeon into combat.

*** ENHANCE YOUR ALMOST HEROES ***

Even if your Almost Heroes aren’t the best fighters, they can at least look impressive while attempting to do so! Choose from an array of Outfits for each character. Upgrade their gear to more formidable versions. Equip them with trinkets that will enhance their performance in battle, anything to empower these idle heroes just a bit more.

Are you prepared for this challenge? Your next idle clicker adventure is on the horizon.

Almost a Hero: A Delightfully Absurd Idle RPG Where Failure is Half the Fun

Let’s be honest: guiding a ragtag band of hilariously inept misfits toward glory shouldn’t be this addictive—yet Almost a Hero had me cackling and strategizing in equal measure. From the moment I recruited my first hero (a bard cowering in a paper bag, no less), the game’s irreverent charm hooked me. This isn’t your typical idle clicker; it’s a satirical love letter to RPG tropes, wrapped in deceptively deep progression. The core loop is blissfully simple: assemble your team of “Almost Heroes,” send them into chaotic battles, and watch as they flail, fail, and occasionally triumph—all while accruing loot whether you’re actively playing or not. But beneath the slapstick surface lies a surprisingly strategic gem. Deciding whether to invest in Grandma’s cookie-fueled buffs or the pyromaniac’s area-of-effect chaos kept me constantly tweaking my lineup, while permanent Artifact upgrades and seasonal challenges added layers of long-term satisfaction.

The game’s genius lies in its balance of autonomy and control. While your heroes brawl autonomously (often with comically tragic results), your role as puppet master shines in optimizing their growth. Prestige runs became a guilty pleasure; each reset felt less like a setback and more like a chance to outsmart my previous blunders. The seasonal modes and timed trials injected fresh urgency, especially when paired with absurdly endearing pets (shoutout to the “notably foolish pigeon” that somehow critted its way to MVP). Customization is another highlight—dressing my disgruntled tree in a top hat or equipping my goblin with trinkets that turned his scams into viable tactics added a layer of personal pride to their incremental competence.

Yet, what truly elevates Almost a Hero is its self-aware humor. The writing drips with wit, poking fun at RPG clichés while celebrating them. Watching my blacksmith dwarf accidentally forge a weapon too heavy to wield, or my “sightless wizard” blast allies instead of foes, never got old. Even the grind feels intentional—a nod to the genre’s inherent absurdity. For fans of idle games craving substance beneath the silliness, or RPG veterans tired of taking heroes too seriously, this is a masterclass in design. By the time my tree hero finally landed a winning blow (after 12 prestiges, mind you), I wasn’t just cheering for him—I felt like an Almost Hero myself. Download it, embrace the chaos, and remember: in a world of Chosen Ones, sometimes it’s the underdogs (and under-trees) that steal the show.

This game had me hooked. I played it daily for ages. Recently, an update changed everything. Losing to a boss now sends you back levels automatically. Even if I’m not playing, I lose progress. It’s frustrating after putting in so much effort. Getting far and then being forced to go backward feels unfair. After all that dedication, it’s disappointing. I’ve decided to uninstall now.

The game has a simple charm, yet plenty of layers keep it engaging. The tutorial runs a bit long, but that’s okay. It invites you to take your time and explore. You find many ways to earn different currencies. Ads are optional and don’t interfere with the experience. The art style is adorable, and the gameplay feels intuitive without becoming monotonous. It’s been ages since a mobile game made me consider spending real money, so that speaks volumes!

This game is fantastic. It brings so much fun. After every prestige reset, it does feel a bit repetitive. That aside, I have a question. Why don’t side quests get completed when you’re idle? It seems strange. The title suggests progress while you're away, like "Progress through 250 stages." When you return, not a single stage counted. You realize that so many should have been completed without actively playing. It feels off.

I decided to update my review for the game. I faced some issues with my account before. After submitting a support ticket, the team responded quickly. They resolved everything in about two days. They fixed the issue and credited my account with what I had originally expected. On top of that, they added some extra goodies, like crafting gems, as a gesture for the inconvenience. The problem wasn’t huge, but their kindness made a big difference!

I completely adore this game! It’s so engaging. I have a cool idea for the next update. When heroes die and come back, their abilities should reset. The time they spend dead feels so long, and waiting for abilities to recharge just adds to the frustration. This change would make the gameplay smoother and more exciting. I really enjoy every moment of it, best game I’ve played in ages!
