FAQS
What is Yoroi?
Yoroi is a light wallet for Cardano (ADA) cryptocurrency developed by EMURGO, one of the founding entities of Cardano. Yoroi currently has versions available for both mobile (Android/iOS) and desktop (Chrome/Brave/Firefox/Edge) and is also compatible with hardware wallets Ledger and Trezor.
As a light wallet, Yoroi enables ADA holders to quickly store, send, and receive ADA and native tokens without having to download an entire copy of the Cardano blockchain. ADA users can also use Yoroi Wallet to stake their funds and register to vote for Project Catalyst – a decentralized funding and governance platform driven by ADA holders on Cardano. Light wallets don't need to download or synchronize the full copy of the blockchain. It connects to trusted servers that have a full copy of the blockchain. This means that once you open the wallet, you can send or verify the reception of transactions right away. The Yoroi desktop extension and mobile apps are free to use.
Yoroi is also open-source so it’s being maintained in a transparent way for the Cardano community. Its codebase is available on GitHub. You can find the code here: extension and mobile.
Where do I store my private keys?
Private keys are stored encrypted on the user’s machine and not shared with third-party servers. They are not shared even with us under any circumstance. We will never ask for your recovery phrase even for supporting reasons. This means you must store or remember your recovery phrase by yourself. If the wallet is installed in multiple machines using the same recovery phrase, every machine will have an encrypted version of the private keys.
Can I run Yoroi on two different devices?
Yes, you can restore the same wallet on multiple devices and use them interchangeably.
Which hardware wallets are supported in Yoroi?
Yoroi Extension supports Trezor Model T, Ledger Nano X, and Nano S. Yoroi Mobile supports Ledger Nano X, Nano S, and Nano S Plus (note: for Nano S you need a USB OTG adaptor. Only Nano X is supported on iOS).
Are there any measures in place to prevent brute force attacks on the password and recovery phrase (e.g., something like a waiting time after 10 wrong attempts)?
Your password is used to encrypt your private key. If your wallet data were to fall into the hands of a malicious third party, they could try to find your private key by using a brute force attack. For that reason, you should make sure that you are using a strong password. As for the possibility of an attacker finding your recovery phrase via brute force attack, please refer to this link for information on how unlikely this would be.
What’s user insights?
Yoroi has improved significantly over the past year - in part thanks to incorporating valuable user feedback from our community. Now, to create an even better wallet experience, we’re giving our users the option to share limited anonymous data (“user insights”) with us that’s relevant to the improvement of Yoroi Wallet’s usability, user experience and performance.
Product related patterns and insights gained will allow us to better address pain points, identify user preferences, and support faster transactions inside Yoroi from ADA staking to Catalyst voting to CNFT management. Positive changes we expect to deliver with user insights include:
Improved features and flows to ensure Yoroi meets the needs and expectations of our users
Enhanced guidance to help users get the most out of Yoroi
Quick access to the frequently-used tools & features
Contextual tips and theme-based suggestions
How to secure my recovery phrase?
Since many recovery key phrases tend to be between 12 and 24 words, committing them all to memory can be a challenge. Especially since the words need to be in the original order to work as a recovery mechanism. Here are notes on some do's and don't when it comes to safely storing your phrase.
DON'T:
Do not keep the recovery key phrase online.
Do not upload it to a cloud storage service, or send it as an email to your account, nor take a picture of it with a phone.
DO
Write it on paper: the cheapest way to store it is to just write it down on a piece of paper and safely store it somewhere only you can access.
Save it on an external storage device: a USB drive or external HDD drive is a good idea. But it is better if the document itself is encrypted.
Chisel the phrase: unexpected, but companies offer steel plates for users to engrave their key phrases.
Use a hardware wallet that stores the recovery key phrase in the device itself. Yoroi is fully capable of linking with a Ledger or a Trezor hardware wallet, and users can even stake to the network using Yoroi and a hardware wallet.

Cardano Yoroi Wallet Users to Earn ADA Rewards From Walmart Purchases
Date: February 4, 2025 Written By: Lele Jima
Cardano-based light wallet, Yoroi Wallet, announces plans to integrate with Walmart to allow users to earn ADA cashback whenever they purchase goods from the retail store.
Bring, a popular white-label cashback platform, announced the development yesterday on X. According to the post, Walmart will soon be integrated with Yoroi Wallet, enabling users to shop for different items like fashion products, electronics, and groceries.
Cardano Cashback Rewards
The upcoming integration comes with a special incentive, allowing shoppers to earn ADA cashback on their purchases.
The upcoming collaboration between Walmart and Yoroi will enable customers to earn a percentage of every amount they spend on the retail outlet, which will be distributed in ADA coins.
This initiative tends to reward users’ shopping experience, as shoppers will enjoy the value of their purchase while receiving additional cashback rewards in ADA.
Cashback to Launch on Desktop
In a separate post, Yoroi’s official handle disclosed that users will initially earn ADA cashback on their Walmart purchases through the wallet’s desktop extension. However, the post noted that the initiative will soon go live without revealing a specific date.

For context, the upcoming ADA cashback reward program on Walmart is part of an initial partnership between Yoroi and Bring, funded by the Cardano Catalyst program.
As previously reported, this collaboration enabled shoppers to earn ADA rewards as cashback when shopping on 775 retail platforms worldwide, including JBL, Samsonite, Vaio, and StockX. Now, the partners are adding Walmart to the retail platforms, where users can shop and earn ADA cashback.
It is worth noting that users must activate the rewards feature manually via a single click on their Yoroi Wallets. Afterward, they would receive a portion of their spending cost in ADA coins, irrespective of their payment methods.
The move aligns with the growing trend of incorporating crypto-based cashback into everyday purchases. Last year, leading crypto exchange WhiteBIT partnered with Visa to launch a crypto debit card that enables users to earn 10% cashback rewards for their everyday spending.
