User Guide
Restoring cards on a new phone
The app allows you to save all your maps to your Google Drive. This is the only way to save cards. Saved maps can later be restored to a new phone from Google Drive by logging in with your Google account.
If you did not save the maps in the application on Google Drive and then lost/broke/replaced your phone with a new one, then there will be no place to restore the maps in the application. In this case, you need to contact the store/restaurant/club/cafe - that is, where you received the electronic card.
If I scan my card's barcode with my camera in the Wallet app, will the card be added to the app?
No, it won't be added. The camera in the Wallet application is designed to scan QR codes containing links to websites that issue electronic cards in the Apple Wallet format. When you scan this QR code, Wallet will download your electronic card. Standard barcodes on plastic cards do not contain links to download an electronic version of the card.
How can I add my plastic loyalty card or paper ticket to Wallet?
Adding plastic loyalty cards or paper tickets to Wallet is not directly supported. The app only works with electronic versions of loyalty cards, coupons, boarding passes or event tickets. These electronic versions are created and issued by stores, cinemas or airlines and are usually sent to you by email in the form of special files in the pkpass format, download links or available in your personal account on the company's website. If you have a traditional plastic card and want to receive its electronic equivalent for installation in Wallet, contact the company that issued you the plastic or paper ticket and ask them to send you an electronic version of your card as a link/file by email or SMS Apple Wallet format.
FAQ
Why does the app ask me for permission to access my camera and photos?
The application only requires access to the camera to scan a QR code leading to a page for downloading a new electronic card and/or ticket. The application does not try to read your photos and videos. Unfortunately, on Android these two essentially different resolutions are combined into one question by the system.
Why does the app sometimes ask me for location permission?
Some electronic maps and tickets contain pre-configured geo points. They are set by companies that issue such electronic cards and tickets. At these geo points, on the smartphone screen, the map can show a message previously recorded for this geo point, for example, the number of a boarding gate at the airport or near a store to remind you of a current special offer. If you have such a map with geo points installed, the application will ask for permission to work with the location. A notification in a geo-point is triggered only on the phone and is not transmitted anywhere, so you don’t need to worry about being tracked by the store or airline that issued you a card or ticket with geo-points.
The number of my bonus points, the % of my discount in the store, the show time at the cinema, etc. are displayed incorrectly on the electronic card in Wallet!
The application displays only those values on the electronic card that were set by the company that issued the card or ticket. The application does not award or write off bonus points, does not set the amount of the discount, etc. All this is managed by the companies that issued your card. If the store or airline has not updated the electronic map with current values, then the application simply cannot display them correctly by definition! If your phone was without the Internet for a long time (a week or more), then the application may have missed an update from the company. Or it may happen that the company that issued you the electronic card does not know how to update its values in the Wallet application on Android, but can only update it, for example, on the iPhone. Therefore, always ask the company that issued your electronic card or ticket if they can work with the Wallet application on Android and regularly update your electronic card with the latest values.
