Do you have a question?
Why do subtitles sometimes appear on screen too late?
Most TV programs are pre-recorded. This gives subtitlers the time and opportunity to perfectly synchronize the subtitles with the speech.
Some programs, however, are broadcast live or semi-live. Semi-live means there's a slight delay between the recording and the broadcast, no more than a few minutes. This delay allows the subtitles to appear synchronized on screen.
If a program (or part of a program) is broadcast entirely live, the subtitlers must also listen to what is being said before they can create the subtitles. This happens very quickly, using speech recognition software, but it still takes about ten seconds for the subtitles to appear on the screen. Sports broadcasts are an example of this.
Why are letters or entire subtitles sometimes missing?
Subtitles can only look flawless if all the intermediary elements are technically perfect. VRT can, of course, only guarantee the quality of the broadcast signal, and this is continuously monitored. You can also check a number of things yourself, such as internet quality or cable connection.
Subtitles are sometimes less complete when they are produced live. In that case, the subtitles may be out of sync with the video. In rare cases, technical problems arise during live subtitles, resulting in a temporary lack of subtitles. VRT will do everything possible to resolve these problems as quickly as possible.
How do I get subtitles on my TV screen or smartphone?
All providers offer subtitles. Only the way they make them accessible differs.
On your TV, you can enable subtitles using the Telenet or Proximus remote control.
Telenet:
Telenet TV box settings
Proximus:

You can also enable subtitles online on the VRT MAX video player.
Depending on the type of device you're using, you can watch in the following ways:

Click on the video and select the CC symbol in the bottom right corner. Press it, and the subtitles will appear on your screen.
VRT MAX app on your smartphone/tablet:
