FAQ

How was Verizon Communications formed?

Verizon Communications Inc., based in New York City and incorporated in Delaware, was formed on June 30, 2000, with the merger of Bell Atlantic Corp. and GTE Corp. Learn more about the history and timeline of Verizon Communications.

What should I do with my Bell Atlantic stock certificates?

Bell Atlantic stock certificates remain valid and should not be sent in for exchange. We do, however, encourage you to take advantage of Book- Entry, which allows shares to be issued in statement based ownership. Shareowners can send their certificates with a letter of instruction requesting to have their certificates deposited into a Book-Entry account. When sending certificates in the mail, shareowners should use registered mail insured for 3% of the market value of the shares. Certificates should be mailed to:

Verizon Communications, c/o Computershare

P.O. Box 43006

Providence, RI 02940-3006

What should I do with my GTE stock certificates?

If you are still holding GTE stock certificates (even if they are lost or misplaced), they must be exchanged for you to receive the merger consideration and accrued dividends on those shares. Please contact Computershare at 1-800-631-2355 for further instructions.

What should I do with my NYNEX stock certificates?

If you are still holding NYNEX stock certificates (even if they are lost or misplaced), they must be exchanged for you to receive the merger consideration and accrued dividends on those shares. Please contact Computershare at 1-800-631-2355 for further instructions.

Where is Verizon Communications traded?

Verizon Communications shares are listed on the New York Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ Global Select Market, under the ticker symbol "VZ."

What is Book-Entry ownership?

Book-Entry ownership is a service offered under the Direct Registration System (DRS) that allows shares to be issued in a statement-based form of ownership without having a physical stock certificate. There is no fee to participate in Book-Entry, and shareowners do not have to be enrolled in dividend reinvestment to benefit from Book-Entry ownership. Book-Entry ownership eliminates the worry and responsibility of keeping track of stock certificates, as well as the time and expense of replacement if they are lost or misplaced.

Can shareowners receive cash dividends if they have Book-Entry ownership?

Yes, shareowners can receive their dividends in cash, via check or direct deposit, or through dividend reinvestment. Book-Entry does not require dividend reinvestment. For more information, please call 1-800-631-2355 or visit computershare.com/verizon.

Can shareowners sell their Book-Entry shares?

Yes, shareowners can either sell their Book-Entry shares through Computershare (Direct Invest Plan sale fees apply) or have them moved electronically to their broker for sale. For more information, please call 1-800-631-2355 or visit computershare.com/verizon.

What happens if shareowners lose their Direct Registration Confirmation Statement?

Unlike stock certificates, the Book-Entry Direct Registration Confirmation Statement is not a negotiable document, so there is no replacement fee. Shareowners can request replacement statements at any time by calling 1-800-631-2355.

Can I purchase Verizon shares directly from the company?

Yes. For information about a Direct Stock Purchase and Dividend Reinvestment Plan, please go to the shareowner services page.

What is the difference between holding shares as a shareowner of record and as a beneficial owner?

If your shares are registered directly in your name with the Company’s registrar and transfer agent, Computershare, you are considered a shareowner of record with respect to those shares. If your shares are held in a brokerage account or bank, trust, or other nominee, you are considered the “beneficial owner” of those shares.

How do I calculate cost basis?

Verizon provides an interactive worksheet to help shareowners in calculating their basis on stock owned, acquisition date and original cost per share. Go to the cost basis calculator page.

How do I transfer (change the registration on) my shares?

For information on stock transfers, please visit computershare.com/transferwizard.

The app estimated a tow truck would arrive in two hours. I received notifications that a truck got assigned and it was on its way, but there might be delays. Time passed with no updates. After two hours without a call or message, I contacted the number listed in the app for the tower, only to find out their truck had broken down. Frustrated, I called roadside assistance again to request a second tow. Three hours later, help finally arrived. The app lacked proper notifications throughout the ordeal.

The app crashed right when I tried to request a tow. When entering my info, I could only select a service station as the address, even though I just wanted to get my car home. Then it crashed again when I attempted to specify which car needed towing. Fortunately, I was able to call an agent who helped me quickly. Within an hour, I made it home and enjoyed a cold beer after a rough night. The service was fantastic; the app definitely needs improvement. Fix the app, please! Service gets a solid 10 stars, but the app is sitting at a 2 for now.

It was so simple. I entered my phone number, confirmed my email, and added the car details. I hit "continue" and chose "dead battery." The app pinpointed my exact location. I pressed "continue" again. A text arrived, letting me know they were finding nearby help. Just three minutes later, I got another text with all the info about the company, the driver, and how long they would take. I received updates as soon as the driver was on their way. Within an hour of reaching out, I found myself at an auto parts store, ready to replace my battery.

The rescuer arrived quickly. They acted with professionalism and a friendly attitude. The app simplified everything, making the whole experience smooth and straightforward.

I tried to get service several times. Each time, the ETA was outrageous. I saw estimates of 60 to 80 minutes. Then they kept pushing it back again and again. One time, I waited an hour only to see the ETA still sitting at 60 minutes. The driver’s location on the map didn’t budge at all during my wait. The whole experience felt pointless.

This app serves no real purpose. It takes up valuable space on my phone. I’ve used it three times. Each time, I submit my information. Each time, it tells me to call. Whether I need gas delivery, a tow, or a jump start, it’s the same frustrating outcome. It feels like a waste of time when help is needed. The only thing this app does is save you the effort of googling roadside assistance numbers. That's it.

I used the app for fuel delivery and ended up on a confirmation page. The app froze like that for three months. I got help before, but I still had to call each time after that. The hold message talked about saving ten minutes with the app, but I couldn't because it was stuck. Then, the new update fixed the freezing problem that many others faced too. Now it works much better. This is my first time using it in about a year.

I had an amazing experience with the service. I requested a tow and watched the updates come in. They responded quickly, loaded my vehicle, and dropped it off without any problems. The service exceeded my expectations. Definitely worth the monthly fees!

Using the app feels like a breeze. The tow drivers really shine. You feel that sense of safety, knowing your car is with them. In the past week, I've needed their help twice. This app has been such a lifesaver during those moments when my car acts up. So thankful for it!
