Tchap - Instant messaging & file sharing

Tchap is a messaging application designed for communication among French administrative personnel, facilitating information exchange whether on the go or from an office setup.

The platform enables one-on-one and group messaging, along with file sharing similar to other instant messaging services, featuring a built-in directory of users, support for multiple devices, and secure private communications.

To guarantee that our users can receive call notifications efficiently, even when their devices are locked, the app requires the USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT permission.

Target Users:

For French public administration personnel only, including two groups:

- Official civil servants (fonctionnaires)

- Contract workers (contractuels)

- While it supports inviting external partners to specific conversations, the core user base remains limited to the public sector.

- No Phone Number Required: Log in using your work email address, no need to link a personal phone number.

- Centralized Communication: Consolidates communication channels across the public administration, allowing all civil servants to register and communicate across departments without switching between multiple tools.

- Built-in Address Book: Find colleagues by name or work email, without needing to know their phone number, and quickly connect. - Interest Forums: Provide forums for professional topics (such as public innovation, online training, and practical tips), and support users to create new forums to promote cross-disciplinary experience sharing.

- End-to-End Encryption: All private messages are end-to-end encrypted, visible only to the two parties involved and inaccessible to third parties, including the French government.

- Locally Independent and Controllable: Designed and hosted in France, the French government has full control over the infrastructure and development process, meeting the data security needs of the public sector.

- Open Source and Standardized: Developed based on the Matrix protocol, the code is publicly available (available on Github), enabling technical upgrades from the Matrix community to enhance functionality and security.
